1. His existence a cosmic gift, that we may know Him
And knowing me is gift to know God

2. So our being from reason's proof derives
And knowledge takes its source from His shining way

3. Say not these words stray from the truth
The truth is what I say in this matter, O wanderer

4. God's care for me as He knew to teach me
This without wealth or status

5. This is the status if you realize its place
None knows it but the lost and the bewildered

6. Truth asks me what cannot be grasped
Except by a perceiver of sense or the ecstatic

7. The house of thought is the house of cobwebs
And the house of unveiling to them in their thought is lost

8. Without thought people would be in stillness
In knowing God, not the Commander and Forbidder

9. And none worship Him but the transcendent
In every eye of examples and likenesses

10. When the Messenger of Truth comes to give you
Names sent, say not “What are these?”

11. Take them and make no comparisons
Nor derivations, be as the knower bewildered
