1. My God, align me with all that pleases you,
And let my heart be content with what you decree for me.

2. If it is ease, I praise you as a benefactor,
And if it is distress, I look to what is ordained.

3. So I look upon it with what you have mentioned,
If it does not please, I incline towards what satisfies.

4. And if it is all straightforward for me, I rejoice in it,
And if part of it burdens me, I weep for that part.

5. My God, I hope for your care for us,
When I slip from the path, I return to the obligation.

6. And if I am truly exalted by my Lord,
Do not deprive me of servanthood and humility.

7. And if you count me among those you credit,
Enable me towards the best loan.

8. So half is for you, like the prescribed prayer,
And half for us without breaking or cancelling.

9. I entrust my affairs to you in submission,
To write among those whose order leads to contentment.

10. And I ask my Lord to protect me
And make me among those He elevated,

11. When leaving the earth to ascend to Him.
And grant me good tidings of bounty from Him,

12. When my composition dissolves and my form decays.
And appoint for me the Judge of Heaven as my livelihood,

13. Upon whom - and does surplus remain with purpose?
And however He calls me, I will come rushing,

14. On a swift she-camel, running and galloping.
