1. Whenever one who remembers me comes along, he remembers me in the best way, in his soul and openly.
That God whose mystical knowledge is all-encompassing, was told of by the infallible Master in the prophecy,

2. Just as the story of the hoopoe who spoke truly, telling the prophet of the wind about Sheba's news,
So the remembrance veils me, and the remembrance unveils for me the hiddenness of the sky and the earth's secrets in the prophecy.

3. It is true and fortified, though I cannot put it into words, yet I am in fertile pasture.
I see the eye in tightness and spaciousness, since I polished the mirror of my heart of rust.

4. And whenever I tread his gathering-places, the gathering-places of remembrance, untrodden by strangers,
Except that asking questions was not prevented by stinginess, but because acquiring knowledge did not please him.

5. That existence I saw is wondrous, in it is loss and profit, if He wills.
Report to Him my state, O my state, if His clear signs should ask about the obscure prophet,

6. That I am from the lands you inhabit, and am not, by God, from Salmā nor al-Aǧāʾ.
If the Merciful brought me into being from a group, then the Unique brought me into being before any group.

7. I found knowledge that none deny, except one who is struggling and tired.
