سقانيها معتقة عقارا
She gave me an aged wine, a potent brew,
من لصب في هواكم مستهام
For one enamored by you I weep,
أبو الثناء شهاب الدين ما بلغت
Abu al-Thana' Shhab al-Din, wealth's ropes have not reached
قدحت في مزجها بالماء نارا
She sparked a fire with water in her mixing,
يا ليلة في آخر الشهر
O night at the end of the month,
عد عن من لج في قال وقيل
Turn away from those embroiled in saying and telling
أترى في الوجود مثلك عالم
Do you see anyone like you in existence
خذ بالمسرة واغنم لذة الطرب
Take pleasure and enjoy the delight of music,
حثثت على عنيف السير نوقي
I urged the camels on through the night
رمى ولم يرم عن قوس ولا وتر
He shot without shooting from a bow or string
متى يشتفي هذا الفؤاد المتيم
When will this lovelorn heart find solace
جلا في الكأس جالية الهموم
Sorrows glistened in the cup,
ملكت فؤاد صبك في جمالك
You have captured my heart with your beauty
لا تلم مغرما رآك فهاما
Blame not a lover if he saw you enthralled,
أدار الكأس صافية المدام
He passed round the cup, clear wine
بكيت الديار وأطلالها
I wept for the abodes and their ruins
وعدتن طرفي بالخيال وصالا
My eyes promised me a fantasy of union
كاد أن يقضي سقاما ونحولا
He nearly died of illness and emaciation
أسرك من باد لعينيك حاضر
The phantoms of a visitor from Umm Al-Aima
خليلي في قلبي من الوجد جذوة
My friends, in my heart there is an ember of passion
عفا الله عن ذاك الحبيب وإن جنى
May Allah forgive that beloved, though he wronged me
غير وجه الجو في حمرة
The face of the air changed to redness
إلى العز خوري يا نياقي وأنجدي
Mount up, my camels, for glory, and strive!
دنف ذو مهجة في الحب تصدا
A melancholic heart in love grows
وميض البرق هيج منك وجدا
The flash of lightning stirred passion in you
ليهنكم زواج في هناء
A marriage brings you joy and bliss
ألا هل للمتيم من مجير
Alas! Is there no refuge for the lovelorn,
ما زلت أول مغرم مفتون
I am still the first lover, infatuated
سطا بحسام مقلته وصالا
With a sword whose blade was separation he drew near
دعاه إلى الهوى داعي التصابي
The caller to passion called him,
انظر إلى الأشراف كيف تسود
Behold the arrogance how it prevails
مذ سل في العشاق سيف الناظر
Since the sword of the onlooker has raged among the lovers,
إن جئت آل سلمى أو مغانيها
If you come to the abode of Sulma or her songs,
قلب يذوب عليك وجدا
A melting heart for you, burning with love,
لقد خفقت في النحر ألوية النصر
The flags of victory fluttered in the throat
هنيت بالفرمان والنيشان
I was honored with the royal decree and insignia
هو البرق مما راعها وشجاها
It was the lightning that startled and stirred her
عفت المنازل رقة ونحولا
The dwellings became delicate and soft,
من أبي الهدى لاح فينا مظهر
Crystalline light revealed to us
أي نار بها الجوانح تصلى
What fire is it, in which wings are roasted
ليالينا على الجرعاء عودي
Our nights in the place of Al-Jar'aa, return
لو كنت حاضر طرفه وفؤاده
If you had been present to see his condition,
سقاها الهوى من راحة الوجد صرخدا
It quenched her thirst with the wine of passion so she reeled
أينكر معروفنا المنكر
The one who denies our good deeds is the denier
ذكرت على النوى عهد التصابي
I recalled the covenant of friendship on the ruins,
أحمد الله بك الحال التي
I praised Allah for granting me
كم دم فيك أيها الريم طلا
How much blood in you, O critic, flows,
لفقدان عبد الواحد الدمع قد جرى
The tears of Abdel Wahid flowed
ما قضى إلا على الصب العميد
He ruled only over the steadfast elderly,
بخلت وما طرفي عليك بخيل
You were stingy, though my eyes were not miserly toward you,
أقول ليوسف والمطل ظلم
I love you, Joseph, though the night is dark
لك بالمعالي رتبة تختارها
You have sublime ranks to choose from
لهذي النوق تنحط كلالا
For these she-camels their necks hang low in languor
رآها قد أضر بها الكلال
She saw it had weakened her,
لمن الركب وحيفا وذميلا
For whom is the caravan and its torment and affliction
لمن أينق يا سعد ترقل أو تخدي
For whom do you gracefully move, O Saad
ما لها تطوي فيافي الأرض سيرا
She winds her way across the desert sands
كف الملام فما يفيد ملامي
Cease blaming me, for blame does not avail
إن الممالك في صدارة أحمد
The kingdoms at the fore of Ahmad
ناحت مطوقة في البان تزعجني
The warbling nightingale in the branches disturbs me
متى يشتفي كبد مؤلم
When will a sore liver find relief,
من لصب مستطار القلب هائم
He whose passionate heart is restless with love
جسد أشبه شيء بالخيال
A body resembling an illusion
ما لها مفرية بيدا فبيدا
She has no respite, ceaselessly
إن هذا قبر لعمرك فيه
This is indeed the grave of your life in it
ومليحة أخذت فؤادي كله
A beauty who captured all my heart
أراني والخطوب إذا ألمت
When hardship weighs heavy
إن الأكارم والمكارم
The virtues, honors, excellences, and glories
سل الله بالسادة الطاهرين
Ask Allah through the pure masters
سألتك عن منازلنا بنجد
I asked you about our dwellings in Najd
ولما ابتليت بفقد الكرام
When afflicted by the loss of nobles
وقفنا بربع المالكية وقفة
We paused at the quarter of al-Malikiyyah, a pause
محوت بسيف سطوتك الفسادا
You erased corruption with the sword of your authority
أبا مصطفى إنا ذكرناك بيننا
O Abaa Mustafa, we did mention you among us
يا نائبا غاب عني الصبر مذ بانا
O you who were absent, patience has fled me ever since we parted
أبا مصطفى زوجت بالخير والهنا
O Abaa Mustapha, you have married off
ناشداها عن فؤادي وسلاها
Ask her about my heart and console her,
يهنا أبو عيسى وإخوانه
With everlasting joy passing the ages
سقاني مرير الكأس حلو المباسم
He gave me the bitter cup with a sweet smile,
يا سيد السادات من هاشم
O master of masters, from Hashim,
زارت وجنح الدجى يا سعد معتكر
The night's wings visited, O Saad, in turmoil,
أما والعين تبكيها طلول
While my eyes shed copious tears
جئت يا ابن الفاروق من معجز
I came, O son of al-Farooq, with a miracle
على أي وجد طويت الضلوعا
With what sorrow did you fold your ribs
رعى الله عيشا رحت أشكر فضله
God has granted me a living I'm grateful for His grace
بروحك يا سليمى ما لقلبي
With your spirit, O Suleima, what is there for my heart
سيحظى شهاب الدين فيما يرومه
Shahab al-Din will achieve his aims,
أيها الدار لقد نلت الحبورا
O abode, you have attained splendor,
ما قضينا حقا لرسم محيل
We did not fulfill the right to weep long
أدار على الندمان كأس عقاره
He turned the cup of his potion upon the two lovesick ones,
هاج القرام وهيجا بلبالي
My cares were disturbed and stirred up by my anxieties,
أفي الطلل الحديث أو القديم
In ancient or recent ruins
دعاك أمير المؤمنين وإنما
The Commander of the Faithful called you, and he
شفها السير والأسى والغرام
The journey, sorrow and passion have made her lips pallid
نزلوا بحيث السفح من نعمان
They descended where Nu'man's foothills slope
ألا بلغ جناب الشيخ عني
Deliver unto the reverend Sheikh this message from me,
يا أيها القمر المنير
O radiant moon, O sweet branch
هلم بنا نزور أبا الخصيب
Come, let us visit Abul Khasib
عرفت صبابة هذي النياق
You knew the illness of this languishing gazelle
قبر به سيد شريف
A grave wherein lies a noble master
زادك الله بهجة ووقارا
May God increase you in joy and dignity
يا قبر محمود لا جازتك غادية
O Mahmoud's grave, no passerby waters your soil
سأبكي وأستبكي عليك المعاليا
I will weep and lament for your greatness,
تولت من الظلماء تلك الدياجر
That dark night's screen unveiled its veil,
بارق الشام إلى الكرخ سرى
The lightning of Syria has spread to Karkh
سقى الله عهدا بالحمى قد تقدما
God watered a covenant with passion that brought us together
لأسماء دار حيث منقطع الرمل
Names has a house where the sands are cut off,
بدا والصبح غار على الظلام
The dawn broke upon the darkness
بدا ورنت لواحظه دلالا
His glances began to flicker alluringly
أتنكر منك ما تطوي الضلوع
Do you deny what ribs conceal inside
وقفنا بالركائب يوم سلع
We stood with the she-camels one day at Salu',
أقول له يوم حث المطي
I say to him on the day he spurs the she-camel,
هنيت هنيت بالعيد السعيد فقد
I congratulate, I congratulate you on the happy feast
سر بحفظ الله وارجع سالما
Go with God's protection and return safely,
سقى الله جيرانا بأكناف حاجر
God has watered neighbors with the sides of a rock
قلب يذوب ومهجة تتقطع
A melting heart and a soul torn asunder
أي جمع هذا وأي اتفاق
What a gathering, what accord
في كل يوم للمنون صولة
Each day death prowls
شجتني وقد تشجي الطلول الهوامد
She captivated me, though the gazelles captivate the meadows
أتتنا من الزوراء منكم قصيدة
A poem came to us from you, from Zawra’
كم قد ألين لمن قسا بصدوده
How gentle I have become to those hardened against me
أتراك تعرف علتي وشفائي
Do you know my malady and my remedy,
سؤالك هذا الربع أين جوابه
Your question, where is its answer in this land?
هنيت هنيت بالإقدام والظفر
You were congratulated, congratulated for your valor and victory
يمينا برب النجم والنجم إذ يسري
By the Lord of the star and the star when it sets
لمن السوابق والجياد الضمر
For whom are the swift steeds and the trained horses,
أعادك يا سعد عيد الهوى
Your return, O Saad, renewed love's feast
بلغت بحمد الله ما أنا طالب
I have attained, by the grace of God, what I sought
أدار الكأس مترعة شرابا
He passed the cup around overflowing with drink
إذا المجد شادته القنا والصوارم
When glory is built by spears and swords,
فؤاد كطرفك أمسى عليلا
My heart became sick like your eyelids,
طرف يراعي النجم وهو مؤرق
A gazelle grazing under the stars, restless,
اليوم أصبح فيك الوقت منتظما
Today time has become organized in you,
أكرم بطيف خيالكم من زائر
Honor me with the shade of your imagination, whenever a visitor comes
في الأربعاء لخمس كن من صفر
On Wednesday the fifth of zero
حييت من قادم حل السرور به
You are greeted by one whose arrival brings joy,
أقلب طرفي ولا أرى غير منظر
I turn my glance, but see naught but a scene,
هذه الدار ما عسى أن تكونا
This abode - what might it become,
يا ابن المخيزيم وافتنا رسائلكم
O son of Mukhayzim, your missives have reached us
بارق لاح فأبكاني ابتساما
A flash of lightning made me smile through tears
سرينا لنمحو الإثم أو نغنم الأجرا
We set out to erase sins or gain reward
وما زلت مذ فارقت بغداد أبتغي
Since I left Baghdad I have sought
أرى في لفظ هذا الشهم معنى
I see in the words of this noble one a meaning
لآل المصطفى علم وجود
For the luminaries of the Chosen One knowledge exists
هاتها حمراء تحكي العندما
Give it to me red, telling of pleasure
تنفس عن وجد توقد جمره
He breathed a sigh for inner turmoil set aflame,
عاد الفؤاد من الجوى ما عادا
My heart has returned from passion, never to return
بحيث انعطف البان
The slender waist bent gracefully,
سنا برق تبلج واستنارا
A lightning flash gleamed and lit up,
قام يجلوها وبرد الليل معلم
He rose to bid her farewell, while the cold of night was prevailing,
أعالج قلبا في هواكم معذبا
I treat a heart tormented in your passion
كن بالمدامة للسرور متمما
Be joyful with wine ere it's mixed, for it tells of rapture
طرقت أسماء في جنح الظلام
Asmaa wandered in the wings of darkness
سقى الطلل الغمام وجاد رسما
The clouds watered the ruins and gave freely,
أبى الله إلا إن تعز وتكرما
God willed that you remain mighty and honored,
هنيئا لكم هذا الهناء المجدد
Congratulations on this renewed joy,
إسأل الأرسم لو ردت جوابا
Ask the ruins if they would answer back
ورد السرور وطاف بحانها
Joy came and surrounded its abode,
أمر بها مع الأرواح رند
The wind blew by it with the spirits.
في رحمة الله وغفرانه
In God's mercy and forgiveness,
جاء الربيع بورده وبهاره
Spring came with its roses and blooms
قدمت قدوم الغاديات السواجم
You came like the swift-moving attackers,
بلغتم كمال الرشد أبناء راشد
You have attained the heights of wisdom, O sons of Rashid,
خليلي هل لي بعد أسنمة النقا
My friend, after the fires of separation have cooled
ذا مسجد سر أرباب السجود به
This is a mosque whose lords of prostration were secretly pleased with it,
أقول للشامت لما بدا
I say to the gloating one when he begins
من معيد لي من عهد الألى
Who can bring back to me the days of joy
هو الوجد يا ظمياء منك وجدته
It is passion, O my slender one, that I found in you
حائز الفضل والكمال جميعه
You who embody all merit and perfection
بقيت أبا الثناء مدى الليالي
You have remained, O father of praise, throughout the nights
حباك الله منه بالشفاء
May God grant you recovery as a gift
أقول لسعد حين لام على الهوى
I say to Saad when he blamed me for passion
يواعدني بالوصل منه ويخلف
He promises me a union, yet breaks his word
قصدت من الزوراء صدرا معظما
I sought from Zawra’ a generous spirit,
يرى ضيف عبد الواحد الخير كله
Abdul Wahid's guest sees all good
قد ذكرناكم على بعد المزار
We have mentioned you from afar,
في رحمة الله حل شيخ
A sheikh has passed away in God's mercy
هل تذكرن بنجد يوم ينظمنا
Do you remember the days in Najd when we would string
علموا يا سعد جيران الغضا
Teach, O Saad, the jealous neighbors
الله يعلم والأنام شهود
God and all people know
إنما هذا لعمري مركب
This is just a vessel, my friend
قد ركبنا بمركب الدخان
We rode the ship of smoke,
دعوت فؤادي للسلو فما أجدى
I called my heart to be calm, but to no avail,
في رحمة الله مضى وانقضى
In the mercy of God he passed away and was gone
نسيم الصبا أهدى إلى القلب ما أهدى
The morning breeze brought to my heart that which it brought,
يشق علي أن تشقى بحبس
It pains me that you suffer in prison
يقول لي النصوح هلكت وجدا
My friend counsels me: "You're lovesick with yearning!
يا بني الشيخ والغياث المرجى
O sons of the revered Sheikh, the hoped-for savior,
بوركت يا دار سلمان التي رفعت
Blessed art thou, O house of Salman, that was raised up
مولاي قد حان الوداع
My Master, farewell is nigh
إذا اضطرم البرق اليماني في الدجى
When lightning flickers through the dark of night,
ألا من مبلغ عني ابن شبلي
Alas, will anyone convey to the son of Shabli
ويوم وقفنا دون أسنمة النقا
The day we stopped at the ruined abodes,
نعم ما لهذا الأمر غيرك صالح
Yes, none other than you is fit for this matter,
قل مثلما قد قال عبد الباقي
Say, as Abdu'l Baqi has said
ما ودع الصب المشوق وما قلى
The ardent lover did not bid farewell, nor did he stop sending
أما والهوى بالوجوه الملاح
The passion has delighted me with my shame in love,
إذا كان خصمي حاكمي كيف أصنع
If my enemy is my judge, what shall I do?
بدا مستهلا بالبشارة يهتف
He began auspiciously with good tidings proclaiming
ولد قد أشرق الكون به
A child has illuminated the universe for us
هل تركتم غير الجوى لفؤادي
Have you left my heart naught but torment,
ومالكة رقي وما أنا ملكها
A queen owning me, but I do not own her
بكت بدم من بعد عيسى وبندر
With blood they wept for Bander after Jesus,
هذه يا صاح أوقات الهنا
These are, O companion, the times of bliss,
بوادي الغضا للمالكية أربع
In the valleys of Ghadha there were four
ألما على لومي وجدا مجددا
My censurer, do not blame me again,
ضحك البرق فأبكاني دما
The lightning laughed, so it made me weep blood,
سكب الدمع لها فانسكبا
He shed tears for her, so they flowed
عليك دموع العين لا زال تنهل
The tears of my eyes keep flowing over you
نبهت الورقاء ذات الجناح
The graceful doe with wings awoke me
أتذكر أطلالا تعفت وأرسما
I remember ruins worn by time
ذكراني عهد الصبا بسعاد
Your memory reminds me of the bliss of youth
أرى القاضي يشارك كل حي
I see the judge shares with all the living,
الدين أصبح منصورا بتأييد
Religion is now victorious with support
أنظر إلى هذه الدار التي كملت
Look at this house which attained
علي لا زلت مسرورا بسلمان
Ali, you have always been delighted with Salman
لا عيب بالبصرة مستهجن
No fault in Basra is more jarring
ليهنك يا نحير أهل زمانه
May he outshine the eminent men of his time,
زواج ابن ياسين زواج مبارك
The wedding of Yasin's son is blessed
عيدي بيوم شفائكم لسقامي
My Eid is the day of your recovery from illness
لكل زمان أيها الشيخ حاتم
O Sheikh Hatim, every age has one like you,
إلى شعبان مولاي المفدى
To my beloved master, the redeemer
شامت البرق حين لاح مطي
The lightning flashed as a rider appeared
يا إماما في الدين والمذهب الحق
O Imam in religion and creed, true
هذا محل العلم والإفتاء
This is the abode of knowledge and jurisprudence
أقول لها يوم جدت بنا
I say to her when she decides to part from me
يا أيها الركب قفوا بي ساعة
O caravan, stop for an hour,
هذي هي الفلك فتح الخير كنيتها
This ship is named "Opener of Good"
نقيب من الأشراف أكرم سيد
A noble one from the nobility, most generous lord
تلفت في منازل آل مي
He wandered the dwellings of the tribe of Maysan
يا منزل السادة الأشراف قد نزلت
O home of the noble chiefs, they descended upon you,
هنيت مولانا المشير بابنه
I congratulate our respected Master on his son,
ألا يا فؤادا قد أضر به النوى
Oh heart that is grieved by separation's pangs
لك الخير شأن الجفن يحرس عينه
Goodness is the work of the eyelid guarding its eye
يا معشر السادة الأشراف لا برحت
O noble lords of high descent, ever aspiring
أسفا على تلك المحاسن
Alas, for those charms -
لله والدة المليك وما بنت
For Allah is the builder of the glorious shrine
ألا من مبلغ عني سلامي
Oh you who will convey my greetings
بقيت بقاء الدهر هل أنت عالم
You remained forever, are you aware
أتى ببراهينٍ غدا كل جاحد
He came with proofs, and every denier
لقد عجب الحسان الغيد لما
The bright-faced beauty was amazed when
وقف الربع على مرتبع
The quarter stood on a square
بشراك في نجل نجيب بدا
I bring you glad tidings of a noble newborn
هكذا كان فعلها الحمقاء
Thus did the foolish one shave her beard
إلى إحسان مولانا الرفاعي
To the Virtue of Our Master Al-Rafa'i
سلمه الرب من الأسواء
The Lord protected him from all harm
ما مات من بعد عبد الواحد الجود
The excellent and generous Abdel Wahid has not died
وعدل ما قضى في الحب يوما
Justice never ruled a day in love
شفيت بطرد صالح كل صدر
You have cured every noble heart by banishing the corrupt
لله منزل جابر من منزل
God has a house built by the generous Jabir,
إذا نبت الديار بحر قوم
If the homes flourish in the sea of a people
هل تعلمون بني الآداب لا كتبت
Do you know, O men of literature, that my hands have written nothing but satire on the pages except the blame of stinginess?
ألا من مبلغ عني نقيبا
O bearer of tidings, inform the scout
يا رعى الله للأحبة في الجزع
O Allah, have mercy on loved ones in distress
أيها القبر لا برحت مصوبا
O grave, you have remained filled
ما لي أودع كل يوم صباحا
Why must I bid farewell each morn
لله در أبي داود من رجل
Praise be to God for Abu Dawud, a man
بشرى بمولد نجلكم من مولد
Good tidings of your son's birth from a glorious,
نبهت للنأي عيون الرفاق
I drew the companions' eyes to the distance,
إن النقيب عليا طاب عنصره
Indeed, Al-Naqib Ali's virtue prospered
أتانا عنك مولانا البشير
Our master, the harbinger, brought us news of you
سفينة صنعت بالهند إذ صنعت
A ship was built in India when it was built
من مجيري من فؤاد كلما
Who will protect me from a heart that flares
أبا جميل قر عينا بمن
O father of a glorious son, rejoice
تبارك من براك ابن المبارك
Blessed is he who blessed you, son of the blessed one
قدمت بالبشر وبالبشائر
You came with good news and glad tidings,
وفظ غليظ القلب أيقنت أنه
Hardhearted, rough of heart - I'm certain he's
قدمت قدوم الخير من بعد غيبة
You came with goodness after absence,
أقول لعبد المحسن اليوم منشدا
I say to Abdel Mohsen today in verse
جميل الصنيع بأهل الأدب
It is beautiful to treat the people of literature kindly
يا ناجيا نحو كل مكرمة
O my savior striving for every glory,
ما لي أفارق كل يوم صاحبا
Why must I part from a companion each day,
تنقلت مثل البدر يا طلعة البدر
زماني على رغم الحسود مسالمي
عاد المتيم في غرامك داؤه
أسير وقد جازت بنا غاية السرى
أجاب ما سألته لما انثنى
ألا إن هذا الفؤاد اضطرم
هل عرفت الديار من آل نعمى
فخار الملوك بأعوانها
أهاج الجوى برقا أغار وأنجدا
متى لاح رسم الدار من طلل قفر
متى يشفى بك الصب العميد
أنيخاها فقد بلغت مناها
أنا في هواكم مطلق ومقيد
شرب القوم من لماك عقارا
بشرى لنا في ولد بوجهه
نؤمل أن يطول بنا الثواء
هذه الدار وهاتيك المغاني
شرف البصرة مولانا المشير
مضى سيد من غر أبناء هاشم
على مثله تجري الدموع السواجم
هلا نظرت إلى الكئيب الواله
سقاك الحيا من أربع وطلول
ألا من لأجفان أرقن رواء
عسى نظرة من ناصر والتفاتة
وغادة لو بروحي بعت رؤيتها
أيها السيد صبرا
تذكر عهدا بالحمى قد تقدما
جد في وجده بكم فعلاما
فديتك لا ترجو لنطقي تكلما
فتن الأنام بطرفه وبجيده
جسد ذاب نحولا وسقاما
متى ترني يا سعد والشوق مزعجي
باكر نداماك بكأس العقار
كفاني المهمات عبد الغني
وإني لشيعي لآل محمد
راق للأبصار حسنا وجمالا
يا قبر هل علمت من ضممته
أتخيل المعنى البديع وأجتلي
ولما رأيت الحي والميت واحدا
هذا البناء الذي محمود أنشأه
رمينا بأدهى المعضلات النوائب
يا إمام الهدى ويا صفوة الله
أهاجها حادي المطي فمالها
أمن بعد الهمام القرم وادي
زيد لوما فزاد في الحب وجدا
من يحاول في الدهر مجدا أثيلا
ليهنك ما بلغت من الأماني
تذكر في ربوع الضال عهدا
جدد اللذة حتى نتجدد
أعد اللهو فإن اللهو أحمد
أعلمت أي معالم ومعاهد
طهر فؤادك بالراحات تطهيرا
أتنسى صالحا يوما عبوسا
متى أرى هذه الأيام مسعفة
نقيب السادة الأشراف زانت
نهني العراق بحكم جديد
وظبي دعتني للحروب لحاظه
أقول لصاحبي ورضيع كأسي
مدحت ابن الفداغ نظمي
أتذكر دون الجزع بالخيف أربعا
شام برقا راعه مبتسما
تبين حق للعباد وباطل
بوخز القنا والمرهفات البواتر
شديد ما أضر بها الغرام
يا ليلة في الليالي
ما غاب بدر دجى منكم ولا غربا
من لصب متيم مستهام
أحبتنا أنتم على السخط والرضا
عشت الزمان بخفض العيش منتصبا
برح الشوق أصيحابي بي
بحكمك زال الظلم وابتسم العدل

قد نحرنا الزق يوم العيد نحرا
تذكر بالخيف عهدا قديما
عفت أرسم من دار مي وأطلال
أرد الدموع بأردانه
رعى الله أيام السرور بحاجر
أرى هذي النياق لها حنين
أرأيت مثلي في الهوى
يا قلب هل لك في السلو
قدمت فحياك المهيمن بندرا
إن مليك العصر من قد علا
لست أنسى الركب بنا
حلفت بتربة آبائها
بلغ الشوق لعمري ما أراد
تحن نياق الظاعنين وما لها
رميت شهاب الدين في نور فطنة
لامني سعد على
ألا يا سيد العلماء طرا
ألا قطع الرحمن كل مقاطع
يا قدوة العلماء يا من علمه
ألا أيها النحرير والعالم الذي
دمت بالنيشان والعيد سعيدا
زرتم فحييتم كما ينبغي
ليهنكم العقد المبارك إنه
يا سيدا ساد في الأشراف أجمعها
قطب تدور عليه أفلاك الهدى
قال لي صاحبي ونحن بسلع
غداة اقتطفنا والفكاهة أينعت
أيها الناظر المفكر فيما
أنظر إلى مجلس أنس زها
تحلف بالبيت وهي صادقة
أنظر إلى دار حسن قد حللت بها
سقى الله هذا القبر من صيب الحيا
