1. I came, O son of al-Farooq, with a miracle
Of eloquence that surpasses what eloquent men can attain

2. Of a unique embellishment that benefits fathers
And gives hearts illumination and clarity

3. From a poem that dawned radiantly adorned
Dazzling us with its beautiful adornment

4. People embellished it before you, yet
Some things eluded it in its palaces

5. You fulfilled its beauties completely
For it is the way of the generous to be faithful

6. You ventured truly into a sea
Where poets stopped at its edge

7. Logic ringing, and words succinct
And speech like plated armor

8. Like the garden of the grieved shone on it
A splendor from its beauty and radiance

9. It is honey in sweetness of diction
Air in softness, and water in fluidity

10. So yours is the reward and bounty for it
And to you belongs praise after it and eulogy
