14. O Lightning, convey greetings to the living in Salam,
And bestow blessings in the settlements of Metha, and greet them!

15. Greet the meaning’s life in their fellowship,
If only my soul attained its wishes through them.

16. My estrangement with the beloved I passionately loved grew long,
And I do not see this long estrangement makes her forget.

17. Why does the blamer arouse me, and I have an ear
That fills up with it, and I see the reproacher dictating it?

18. O reproacher, whenever you see a burning lover,
Leave him be, for he is passionate, so leave him be!

19. Do not torment my brother today in his inner self,
For what he encountered in love suffices him.

20. Do not find faults in me for that would increase the heart's passion,
And perhaps a lover's wounds are most sensitive.

21. I say to the lightning when its illuminations appear,
It recalls the smile of the one with a mole, picturing it.

22. By God, repeat the gazelle's narratives, for through nothing else
Are the pining souls' cravings satisfied.

23. Be gentle with the inner self of one longing for the return
Of a fawn, and let every soul roam to what it desires.

24. O breeze, travel from the land of Kazima,
Relaying the scattered narratives from its pastures.

25. Carry to Mosul and its meadows our greetings,
And convey greetings to those whose high ranks reached its summits.

26. He is but the servant of God, its scholar,
Its leader, its guide, and its mentor;

27. The unique, matchless one in his merits,
No envier can conceal them.

28. From a group innocent of every blemish,
Exalted is God, their Creator!

29. From them the dawn of knowledge shone, and its meadows delighted,
Flourishing through truth in its prosperity.

30. They are vexed by the illnesses of enviers' livers, just as
The exalted feel distressed in their lofty places.

31. So let Mosul the meadowed feel proud, for you have
The furthest extent of pride, its near and far!

32. Merits will always have people in the world,
You never ceased to be its people through the days.

33. The pages of eloquence after it almost folded them
Became spread by you again.

34. You were rewarded for a daughter of thought you sent out
To your lovers, presenting it to guide them.

35. If we rewarded you with even a tenth of its value,
You would be rewarded with the Dunya and what is in it!

36. What garden of sorrow did morning not visit,
With rain making it laugh, after it spent the night weeping?

37. One day it was adorned, and its roses and garden
Smiled in wonder at its buds.

38. It cheered and gladdened more than the poetry you composed,
Like celestial bodies' rising knitted in its rhymes.

39. Houses of merit containing every rarity
Your mighty hand perfected their structure.

40. They appealed until we imagined the breeze traveling
From them, though it did not travel but from their sides.

41. It is recited to the hearing sometimes, filling it
With pearls, and its meanings are its necklaces.

42. It is as though the rising of the moons and their rising place,
And the stars are the blossoms composed in its rhymes.

43. How often did it intoxicate us though we drank no cups of wine!
Rather, its meaning is the wine of its meanings.

44. Forged from the tears' essence, pure,
Its external kept appearing like its internal!

45. Of the appearance of magic in its clarity,
In poetry's image, imagining and concealing it.

46. Clarity which, whenever it called for a miracle
Of eloquence, responded to it.

47. How the eye was dazzled by the beauty of words
That appeared and the implied meanings within it!

48. And how can we one day equal it
When you, Oh Only One, authored it?

49. You never ceased, for as long as the sun rose and set,
To be the source of the suns of glory containing it!
