1. If the homes flourish in the sea of a people
Then there is no blame on the one who parts

2. Since I found my worries to be plentiful
My soul is in need and comfort evades me

3. I did not bow my forehead to the days
Nor did I lower my wings to misfortune

4. Distress tightened around me so I steeled myself
Even if no one reproaches me, I blame myself

5. For I have come upon difficult times
That show me seriousness amidst jest

6. I rejected staying and embarked on a perplexing matter
That may hold my rectification

7. Our ship sails into the sea's abyss
Like a bird flapping its wings

8. We sailed on her until we arrived
One morning in Kuwait of the Al-Sabah

9. With people who honor a neighbor
And whose bellies are satiated when full

10. Stubborn, no injustice circulates among them
Nor do they have a neighbor with impunity

11. Helping hands and courageous lions
Worthy of valor and struggle

12. I descended among them to spaciousness and breadth
With intimacy, delight, and relief

13. A people whom Abdallah leads
With utmost strength and leniency

14. When they descend upon a land for battle
They protect it with tongues and spears

15. How much they begin with honor and excel
And how much they slaughter the enemy like sacrifices

16. They quenched their enemies' thirst with the redness of death
With the red of the sword and the white blade

17. Their virtues do not cease to call
To hopes, awaken, for success

18. In their hands is a cumbersome powerfulness
Which drives back the reckless from transgression

19. They placed the utensils of excellence
As the foal suckles from the teat

20. When I visit them one day if fate grants me
Including me in the visit’s success

21. Through them I unleash the tongues of poetry
With what it dictates of eloquent speech

22. Their love has mixed into my soul
Like the mixing of wind with hot air

23. It is as if their praise to me is a potion
Through which my early rising and recovery occurred

24. I am saturated with them and did not drink wine
Nor did I extend my bed for rest

25. Sweeter than drink for the repentant
If I were to suggest to my time

26. And time granted me my request
I would never part from them

27. If I am enabled separation from them
That is denied for me by allotted fate

28. And we are in the grip of fate’s allotment
