Among us, with partings so painful.

2. Sigh follows sigh,
Tears flow down cheeks.

3. Regret for those now
Lying under gravestones.

4. I see them as stars
Lighting up the darkness.

5. Each day brings new sorrows,
Sorrows bring more sorrows.

6. We’re driven to sadness
Though worldly joys abound.

7. We jest with fate though fate
Brooks not our jesting.

8. Always oblivious we,
Like grazing beasts that roam.

9. We feign excuses
When no excuses exist.

10. Death warns the youth
To curb his recklessness.

11. Man disregards the traps
Though wise and knowing.

12. Death hunts him down
While he aspires upward.

13. Can one know yet feign ignorance?
Ignorance shames the wise.

14. O Solace you remain exalted
While lesser lights decline.

15. I console you with one departed
Whose praise no tongues can find.

16. He who hopes to live on after death
Will vanish and depart.

17. Eyes must weep for him
And dirges chant his loss.

18. The clouds gave him to drink
Quenching plateau and dune.

19. Today I console you with one
Who left us for the Gardens.
