2. Islam was gladdened by his birth
And people rejoiced at this blessing

3. Baghdad became radiant, as if
It had returned to Harun al-Rashid's days

4. And it began to gleam with his lights
As the full moon gleams from afar

5. He brought us good news, so our joy increased
Beyond what we had before

6. God has granted us through his birth
All the lasting glory we desired

7. So we remain continually in celebration
Each day for us is a new feast

8. And if the universe were to date itself
It would date itself from Abdulhamid
