عديني أفي الدنيا أقل من الوعد

قلت للحسناء همسا
I whispered to the beautiful one

صبرا على حور العينين والدعج

يا ذات خدر قدرها عال

طال التمنع يا مليحة فامنحي
Long has been your coyness, O beauty
بما في ليالي الهوى من أرق
With the sleepless nights of passion,
ألا تذكرين ضياء القمر
Do you not remember the moonlight's glow
تنفست الظبية النافره
The shy doe exhaled
الحب علمني ما لذة الأرق

جردت من تلك الجفون سيوفا

ما جئت ألتزم القوام الناحلا

رسم المليحة مكرم مني
فؤادي للسماء وللسمو
فؤادك در والقلوب زجاج
أتغريها بسفك دمي سديف
أي الحمائم في الحمى لم تسجع
يا ربة الحسن والإيناس والخفر
يا أرض أندلس الخضراء حيينا
أمن عربية تشتاق دارا
أيا نجمة في قربها القلب طامع
أطالعة زهراء من ليل أحزان
يا دار أزهر حولك الورد
إن الجمال به عزاء الأنفس
أيا زهرة من حبيبة قلبي
يا ورد جور الذي حيا فأحيانا
الزهر عندي خير ما يهدى
أحن إلى طيب الغدائر والفم
دعيني أمت حرا يخلده الذكر
محا لك حسنا مدمع وتسهد
أرى البحر قدامي يقذف أمواجا
أرى حبي شرارا مستطيرا
من غصن قلبك زهر الحب ينتثر
القلب حصن حصين
فتاتي الصغيرة تهوى النقارا
الكون بالطيب والأنوار حياك
رمتني في الصباح بوردتين
هجرت الأهل والصحبا
دمعي على حبيك في الشعر
تحوم عليك روحي كالفراش
راحتي في راحتيها
مدت إلي يدا كزهرة خدرها
هلا التفت لكي نحييك
هذا المحيا عليه أشرق النور
الدرع بالنهدين مكتظ
من مقلتيك الغرام ينبعث
هذي المليحة فتنة المتأمل
من حمرة الورد أم من حمرة الخجل
وضعت يدي حينا على العين والقلب
يا بنت يعرب هل للكرب تنفيس
حسنت لي الصهباء يا غيث
سألتني عن علتي وعيائي
نولتني ذات الجديل الخصيب
في ذمة الله والإسلام والعرب
نراودها عجوزا دردبيسا
ما زلت يا كاس تعلينا ونعليك
الخمر في كأسها الياقوت والماس
أفق فالديك قد صدحا

وقفت على قبر الحبيب مسلما
هبط الليل ولما أن دجا
بكيت على حب مع الحسن ذاهب
ما الموت إلا فراق الأهل والوطن
أتضمد جرحا وتمسح دمعا
أيها الرسم تكلم فالبيان
كنت يا أماه أرعى النجما
واها وهل تجديك نفعا واها
لعمر أبيك ما نفع الحياة
يا ليتني ظلت صبيا قاصرا
توالت ليالي الحب وهي سراع
ما الدار إن رحل الأحبة دار
خير التقى رفق إنسان بإنسان
أدنتي لماذا قلت شر بلاء
يا خاتما يلمع في أصبعي
لما هوى نجمي تذكرت الهوى
إني ذكرتك في العباب المزبد

أهذا الشعر يصلح للبقاء
بينا يسير الفتى جذلان مغتبطا
رويدك لا تأسف ولا تتندم
يا من تلطخ بالمداد ولاثا
أسيدتي لماذا كل هذا
قلبي كنجمي قد أنار أو التظى
تصبتك الأساور والسموط
عوضت منك من الإيناس إيحاشا
تعشقت أجفانا وقبلت أصداغا
أبى الحب إلا أن يذل بنوه
عجبت للدين كم فيه الورى بحثوا
أطيع قلبي وأعصي في الهوى جسدي
أترشقني وبيتك من زجاج
أمن قفص الى شرك وفخ
لماذا أسبلت دمعا لماذا
أيا ذات المكارم والمعالي
دع للجهاد قواعد الزجاج
لصلاح قومي أعشق التأليفا
إن لم يكن وطن الفتى كالغيل
لهفي على أرض بها الطليان
وطني الشام فهل فيه حمى
