3. I wonder at Beauty and its deeds;
From it comes life, though it may be deadly.

4. And I say, my heart sore on its pyre,

5. For Godโs sake, if you give a lover safety,
Do not let him hear the rustling of silk.โ

You would see in it Beautyโs kinds unnumbered.

7. And you would read verses of revelation
That were never written, their letters hearts throbbing.

8. Your beauty is a fire that purged
The blemish of heartsโso I turned chaste.

10. With your vanishing waist and my shattered composureโ
Do not forbid me two playful kisses!
