2. This is a beautiful coming together, in which we are united,
By the love of her, in whose neighborhood we frolicked happily.

3. In crystal cups I pour it out,
That is an array clad in light.

4. None but me serves in her presence,
For the generous is gentle and pliant.

5. Spread out the tablecloth on this carpet, and be
In drinking it an Arab, not ashamed.

6. Leave aside the chairs, for the ground is steady
For knees, so recline and stretch out.

7. Let us drink, saluting the crescent in it,
And jasmine with spirits opened.

8. Do you not see it rising for us from the blueness,
Its light above us, and perfume and joy?

9. In my cup I drink its rays,
With nectar, and straitened life opens out.

10. Have you heard of this blending from old,
O wise one, whose breast in drunkenness expands?

11. By God, Ibn Hani has no virtues like hers -
These meanings which clarity brings.

12. Whether I pour it undiluted and drink it,
Or watch it longingly and praise,

13. Meanings for it are manifold adorned,
As the rainbow adorns its arcs.

14. Most deserving for its home to hope for bliss
Is where loving intimacy and morning draughts abound.

15. If you pass by it, greet it peace, and say -
"Safety upon you," - and hail, O cup!
