1. She rose, having torn through the veil of epochs,
The daughter of the greatest Hashimite prophet.

2. Her forehead is like the blade of Dhulfiqar,
Her garment flaming from its sharp intense sparks.

3. My soul is ransom for the free woman who was raised
Loving eloquent tongues, antelopes, and ostriches.

4. The desert was too small for her, so its gates opened,
The gates of Caesar, the Aziz, and Chosroes.

5. She led her horses into battle,
Dragging brocade above marble.

6. Today she appeared, restoring her beauty
And glory, thus she was dyed red.

7. She walked victoriously, treading only
The necks of knights and broken spears.

8. I became most dangerous, praising like Ibn Hani,
In a poem that shook regiments of soldiers.

9. I say, and the Arabian horses neighed
Daughter of the nomad, the time has come to prepare.

10. Come to civilization and welcome
The lights of that rising radiant dawn.

11. Return to ancient times, for it is
Like spring or a rain-bearing cloud.

12. The sun of the east rose in the west
From your open plains and Berbers.

13. You called them after misguidance to guidance
And clothed them in robes of finest silk.

14. They complained to you of severe thirst for dew
So you generously gave them cups from Kawthar.

15. Their morals and minds became refined
As they smelled your fragrant breath.

16. Were it not for you, the prisoner would not
Have been freed, nor the slave emancipated.

17. The land became, by your rule, a paradise
Strutting in a dress of lushest green.

18. Its rivers and seas sang joyfully
At the voice of one chanting and declaring God's greatness.

19. How beautiful was that bygone era
When the finest race ruled the wilderness!

20. Your armies went from one conquest
To another, sweeping down like a torrent.

21. Their horses galloped over cities
Like the dawn rising over fading darkness.

22. Every resolute warrior and every charging steed
Bore, in its saddle, a sword for every bold knight.

23. Goodness on the day of battle was tied to them,
Above spilled blood and below swirling dust.

24. The neighing of their steeds was like thunder,
Foretelling rainfall and lightning in warning.

25. The world thus seemed Arabized to them
Within some years and a few months.

26. Their banners fluttered over cities -
White, black, or green.

27. Of the three, detail the flag of guidance
And place it above Mercury and Jupiter.

28. Those noble storms brought good tidings,
So I understood and greeted the budding spring.

29. Al-Rashid in his Baghdad would say,
"When will you rain down, O cloud that pours!"

30. Whatever tax you bring down on the countries
Comes to me even from across the sea.

31. O state built on the Quran! Who
Can count your perfections that cannot be limited?

32. Eloquence and poetry cannot suffice,
Even if I borrowed Sihah al-Jawhari's dictionary,

33. Or the abundant poetry of Ghailan -
A third of the most fluent Arabic tongue -

34. Who can count the rays of the sun
That dawned on the world with the greatest manifestation?

35. By its light and by its heat is our life,
And our lives are illuminated by your shining light.

36. Memories of your glorious past make me yearn,
Oh how the lover's heart burns with reminiscence!

37. You filled the lands with civilization and prosperity,
Yet since you left, the earth has been a desolate ruin.

38. The grandeur of Babylon and Nineveh returned
Along with the glory of Baalbek and Palmyra.

39. You inspired me and guided me, so I am ecstatic,
And the light is from you, both for one who attains and sees.

40. I saw myself as a horizon of a shining star,
And I saw my heart as a garden of blooming roses.

41. I am still in Baghdad, hearing a melody
For al-Mawsili upon the ringing lute,

42. So I say, as the beautiful dream makes me yearn -
Oh beautiful dream, interpret yourself!

43. Do you see Damascus nursing its child
As al-Buhturi walks in Baghdad?

44. Do generations repeat immortal poetry,
Flowing continuously from your gushing spring?

45. Its beauties appeared though they were hidden,
From your overflowing, concealed beauty.

46. The blossom of Cordoba and its mosque and what
Of scattered pearls fill its treasuries.

47. The castle and the Red Palace in Homs, and in
Granada the decorations of Ibn al-Ahmar.

48. The palaces of Samarra which donned
The shroud, though hearts did not shroud.

49. The shining wisdom mourns her house
And says to al-Ma'mun - how long have I grieved!

50. The Ashrafiyya in Damascus and a thousand others
Built by the Arabs after refinement.

Nothing remains of them, though their men

52. Were guides for the confused world.
They moved like wandering stars

53. As the earth shone with Islam like a full moon.
They scattered the torches of guidance in the darkness

54. And helped those faltering to stand straight.
Those schools and institutes were demolished

55. Or burnt as if they never prospered.
All beauty and virtues were exposed,

56. After the Caliphate, to the foolish slanderer.
The Caliphs kept their covenants

57. While they are humiliated by one who mocks.
O Caliphate, unite

58. The ranks of your scattered, wandering sons!
You were a string of gems, arranging

59. So it dispersed, and fools scattered the gems.
Iraq yearns for you, so do the palms,

60. As Syria oscillates between remembering and bitterness.
Egypt, the West, and the farthest Maghreb pine

61. For nearness after aloofness and reluctance.
All those countries are Arabized

62. After Arab elegance, nothing is fragrant.
I hope you will become a great state again

63. With your unique scattered systems.
I see you extending in East and West

64. As your front legs extend, O Anasir.
I roam in you, from East to West,

65. Dragging the train of the arrogant wanderer.
I say this is my nation, my state,

66. My banner of pride and honor.
It is the strongest and highest in the world,

67. And I am the strong, the high, the brave!
In the Grand Kaaba, a cry rose

68. For the Prophet's son, mobilizing, rallying.
In the Umayyad Mosque, its echo rumbled,

69. The Aqsa Mosque, and the Azhar courtyard.
My children, be victorious with the victory of your Prophet,

70. Truth would not have appeared without their victory.
Whoever does not shed blood or spend money

71. To protect the most honorable, noblest honor,
And restore the usurped kingdom - verily

72. It is an inheritance affirmed by eras' rubble -
The Great Arab State belongs to you

73. And will return to you from murky darkness.
So repel your enemies with each frightening battalion

74. That crushes in battle, stomping with its heels.
The nobility of branches is from roots, and the

75. Nobility of roots is from dripping blood.
Goodness is from the horses of Arabia

76. Whose hooves trampled the dens of leopards.
Sovereignty, bliss, and sublimity

77. Are from a gold dinar and engraved sword.
When they unite for a righteous people,

78. None become blessed and victorious but them.
Money is the greatest strength of a state,

79. Through it many triumphs have been achieved.
Weapons assist righteousness,

80. While one between them is wicked or virtuous.
O believers of a land whose leader

81. Is none but the Imam, the renowned son of an Imam!
He has mobilized to unite you into a state,

82. Quraishi, and ease after hardship.
The honorable banner protects you

83. As you protect it on the day of turmoil and reckoning.
Do you not recognize your mother by her scripture

84. And tongue, from witness or informant?
She appeared pure through it, so nations became

85. Purified, and overflowing grace spread.
Is not your strength and honor through her

86. In every region, heralding guidance?
Show gratitude for her beauty and grace,

87. The free cannot deny or forget them.
Inclination of the heart to guidance is your proof,

88. One’s faith does not waver in it.
God is Great, and the Prophet is His beloved,

89. So hope for his intercession with excellent patience.
Pray upon him and submit, be firm

90. And steadfast, preparing and resolved!
You are his sons, so be one nation

91. And be wary of any deceiver or fraud.
Will strangers divide brothers whose

92. Abode of the Caliphate is vast and roomy?
Do you address God in the language that

93. Was honored by the revelation of the luminous Book?
Your prayers and souls are Arabized.

94. The pleasures of Paradise are for the righteous.
Mecca's plain united your bands

95. Until you became brothers in the dwelling place.
As you circumambulated God's House as brothers,

96. Also circumambulate the House of the Caliphate for liberation!
By God, there is no freedom but that

97. Written by the army's ranks, not by pages.
Your unification under God is unity

98. For your masses, so take the counsel of one who organizes.
Gather as nations and become one nation,

99. For the kingdom is greater with larger numbers.
Be like a structure whose parts

100. Strengthen each other, safe from every hissing wind.
Nothing separates you - this is your religion

101. And language - so hold onto the essence.
In the Grand Mosque, a cry rose

102. For the Prophet's son, mobilizing, rallying.
In the Umayyad Mosque, its echo rumbled,

103. The Aqsa Mosque, and the Azhar courtyard.
My children, be victorious with the victory of your Prophet,

104. Truth would not have appeared without their victory.
