1. Those misleading dreams are gone
Never submissive to the weak

2. They were but mirages, no water for the thirsty
Who has them, imagination aids against worries

3. In the green prairie is the justification of a pioneer
With it in times of drought, meadows flourish

Even if hopes in you were misleading

Nor content, while the eyelids keep shedding tears

How short are pleasures, and man tossed about

I grasped at air, ambitions gone

8. You left me with a weak heart and ambition
Your intrigues deceiving souls

9. I recited some lines of poetry
Whose verses shine like flashes of lightning

10. I tasted platonic love in a poet's cup
Mixed with poison, and the poison is bitter

11. The news of a liar was not truthful
That is a phantom, adorned by dreams

12. Oh loss of endeavor, and waste of passion
With an idol, veils raised from it

13. If only and would that now are no use to me
No benefit in wishing and hoping

14. Young as I am, I have suffered much
And my senses and hearing are shut off

15. In my heart there is no sound or echo
How so, when around me the home lies desolate

16. I grasped embers to cool in my hand
I returned and my fingers were scorched

17. Man among people is but like a bird
Struggling with traps, an opponent wrestles

18. Blessed is embarking a ship, blessed
An immense ocean, above it the stars shine

19. Maybe travels will relieve my troubles
For one like me, events made it known

20. I became wealthy, glorious and eminent
My fame spread in East and West

21. I turned away from knowledge, which is my misery
What use is knowledge, and knowledge is lost

22. Not one in coarse wool from poverty
Like one in silk, protected by wealth
