Delighted by the branches of Arak

4. And you yearn to Levant, so my heart flew
To days of my nation in struggle

5. O Arab of gazelles, listen
To an Arab youth who called you

6. Arab blood did boil in us
I profess our Arabism, your brother

7. You glimpsed with kohl-lined eyes, in them
Affection from it, solace for who weeps

8. The desert seemed to blossom for me in it, and Qais
Toying in it with your mother or father

9. I saw you at an iron-barred window
So your captivity in its protection was hard for me

10. And in the land of foreigners, my captivity was long
Is this captivity without deliverance?

11. And when you saw me, you showed intimacy
And my intimacy, O gazelle, is to see you

12. And out of yearning, you stretched out
A delicate leg, so I smiled at your answer

13. And if I could, I would have embraced
A delicate head of yours or kissed your mouth

14. And I said to you, go and graze the bushes
Over there, and peace be upon your protectors
