1. Answer me, O silent universe,
And remind me, for I have forgotten,

2. And tell me a little about your Creator,
For I have not been guided by the written word,

3. I doze off at the Torah and the Gospel,
And in the Quran the attributes bore me,

4. In the three books I was confused
By entertaining tales that did not nourish me,

5. Each claims revelation and truth,
Yet for delusion we fight bitterly,

6. How did Moses part the sea,
So he could cross with his people and provisions?

7. And Jesus, how did he die and rise alive,
Like Jonah when he was swallowed by the whale?

8. These are mythical tales told in religion,
While people are blind and I am not blind,

9. Does man build in this life and become certain,
Like spider webs that are woven?

10. After death he disintegrates,
With no fate or shelter,

11. Is there reward or punishment in the hereafter,
For it prisons or homes were built?

12. And God's voice on the Day of Judgment will rise,
While around it voices will softly fade,

13. So the devout and pious man will enjoy
Asceticism and night prayers in the dust,

14. While the blasphemous man walked cheerfully upon it,
His signs hurt but do not miss,

15. So which of them is right, with no proof,
Of this or that, with no basis?

16. Speak to us as you spoke to Moses,
And Jesus, O originator of life and death,

17. Otherwise all people will stray in doubt,
So covering up and silence become a must,

18. We who are lost and do not know,
If after death we live or we die?
