My love for the Prophet's family intermingles with my flesh
من بحر حمدي لرب المنح مغترفي
From the sea of praise to the Lord of bounty I draw
بأي بديع أم بأي بلاغة
With what elegance or what eloquence
عرائس حسن بالجمال تجلت
Beauties of beauty appeared adorned
بحمد الله يبدأ كل شاكر
With praise to God begins every thankful one
يا رب إني نبات نعمتكا
My friend, your words touch my heart.
ربنا إننا لهجنا بذكرك
Our Lord, we did mention You
هزنا الشوق للمقام السني
Longing shook us for the sublime abode
هب يا قلب لاجتنا لذاتك
My heart rises, let us enjoy your pleasures
إن مدحي لخالد بن الوليد
My praise of Khalid ibn al-Walid
دعا الناس محيي الدين منه ليقتدوا
Muhiyuddin called people to follow him
سائل الفيض من بحور المسائل
Ask the outpouring from the seas of questions,
شمس ذات الحبيب ليست تغيب
The sun of the beloved never sets
تبت يدا من عق والده وتب
Cursed are the hands that strike a parent, and cursed
من رام نيل النعم الخالده
Whoever desires eternal blessings
دن للأبوين وبرهما
Be dutiful to your parents and take good care of them
نحمد مولانا الذي قد اصطفى
We praise our Master who has chosen
قسما بصبح الحسن حين تبلجا
I swear by the dawn when beauty gleams
ألا إن علم الطب قد غار ماؤه
Alas! The fountain of medical knowledge has run dry
اجل كأس السماع يا ذا المغني
Bring me the cup of wine, O singer
أسعفي يا ذات ربي بالمنى
Grant me, my Lord, the wishes that I yearn
فلك العلا قد زف نجما زاهرا
The sphere of highness presented a shining star
نهجنا في السلوك أقرب نهج
My path of conduct is the closest path
لألسنة الأقلام أعذب منطق
The pens have a sweeter eloquence
يا إماما يممته حيث أضحى
O Imam whom destiny made
صاح إن ضامك الزمان فيمم
Cry out! If time obscures you, direct
شيخ عتليت لم يزل مسعودا
An aging sheikh, though frail, is ever blessed
عليك سلام يا جميل بثينتي
Peace be upon you, my beautiful Buthaina
أنتم في الحمى ملوك البرايا
You are kings of the desert lands in fever
أرى الكل في عين الحقيقة كالأفيا
I see all in the eye of truth as phantoms
ونوفرة تبدي من الماء قامة
A slender palm rising from the water
وآخر العهد منه
The last promise from him
لم أنسه لما بدا عابسا
I did not forget him when he appeared frowning,
يا من يغيث الورى من بعد ما قنطوا
O You who brings relief to the people after they had despaired
لو قابل البدر جزءاً من سناك غدا
If the full moon met a part of your brilliance tomorrow
عرفت الرجال وجربتهم
I have known men and tried them
يا من له اسم معرب عن فعله
O You whose name reflects Your act
شلير لعمري أساء الجوارا
By my life, my neighbor has brought misery
انعش الأرواح أيها المحبوب
Refresh the spirits, O beloved one,
يا من يغيث المستغيث
O You who helps those seeking aid
غوانيا غواليا بها الشجي مشجون
The slender graceful one has captivated my heart
هوى الحسان الكواعب
The beautiful maidens are the key to attaining desires,
كل شيء فان والباقي وجهه محبوبي
Everything passes away except His beloved face
طبت لي يا بدر مجلى
You rose for me, oh full moon, in my sitting place
جملي يا قدرة الله العظيم العلي
My sentences, O God's great supreme power
حقق تجد في الوجود ما ثم إلا الله
You will find in existence nothing but God
نشرت في دولة العشّاق أطرافي
I spread my wings in the land of lovers
رفع الآله مقام إبراهيما
God raised the station of Abraham
يا حاتمي يا أندلسي يا خير فتى
O Hatimi, O Andalusian, O best of men
إذا قلت يا الله قال لمن تدعو

حمدت اقترابي منك في حالة النوى
I praise my coming close to you with pure intention,
بدا لعيني في مرآة عيني وجه جميل
A beautiful face appeared to my eyes in the mirror of my eyes
سيري سفينة إنشادي عسى كرما
Sail my poetry ship, may Favor
لي منكم ورد الكتاب وضمنه
The book of correspondence holds for me
في حضرة البكري
In the presence of al-Bakri
حسن ذات الغيد من وجه الذات
The essence of beauty from the essence of the self
لنا تعرب الآلات والنطق أعجم
Our instruments articulate speech, though mute
بعد ما أهدي سلاما حسنا
After I send good greetings
إذا عدت لا بدعا فإني أخو الظما
If I return, though uninvited, I'm akin to thirst
بت في الهوى ثملا
I was drunk with love
يا صبا الأسحار هبي
O morning breeze, blow gently
ما كل من سهر الليالي مغرما
Not all who pass the nights from love distraught
دع سوانا إن رمت يوما رضانا
Let go of whoever once rejected us
أدرها على العشاق يا أيها الساقي
Pour it for the lovers, O cupbearer
يا من تعرض للبلا وبه هوى
O you who attacked misfortune and for it passion felt
قدح الشوق في الفؤاد زناده
The longing lit a flame in my heart
يا نبيا عليك مولاك صلى
O Prophet, may your Master bless you
عن يمين لا يمين
With a right that is no right,
روض التجلي قد فاح ورده
The garden of revelation, its roses are fragrant
شمس سعدي لاحت بسعد البروج
The sun of Saadi rose with the fortune of constellations
كيف أخشى تحول الأحوال
How can I fear the changing of fate
قد أعربت ذات الخبا عما بمجلاها اختبى
The one with charm has expressed what was hidden in her beauty
حمى حي التداني سلوا
The zeal of the close companions, ask

Your meadows are devoid of the song of nightingales
رويدك حادي الركب فالجد مسعر
Rein in your eager mount, for ardour blazes bright,
سلام على الملحوظ في القرب والبعد
Greetings to the one noticed from near and far
باسمك يا الله ربي ابتدي
In Your name, O Allah, my Lord, I begin
دعوت وجودي حيث ما ثم داعيا
I called upon your existence wherever there was a caller
إذا لم تكن أنت الدليل فلا هدى
If you are not the guide, there is no guidance,
إن قلبي الكليم في الغيب نوجي
My sincere heart in absence yearns
حمى السيد البكري حمى من به احتمى
The refuge of al-Sayyid al-Bakri is a refuge in which one seeks protection,
في دياجي الحروف من كلماتك
In the radiance of your words' letters
موقع النجم في الحمى الشرقي
The position of the star in the eastern fever
ليل الخطوب له فجر من الفرج
The night of distress has a dawn of relief
فاز بالدارين حاوي الحسنيين
The one endowed with beauty and virtue
يلومونني في حب ذي المقلة الزرقا
They blame me for loving the one with blue eyelids
لله درك طيبا
God guide you to goodness
يا رب قد عجز الطبيب فداوني
O Lord, the doctor has failed so heal me
في التجلي قد صار كلي قلبا
In revelation I have become entirely heart,
بمدح آل النبي ماذا يفوه فمي
With what words should my mouth praise the Prophet's family?
يا ليل طل أو لا تطل
O night, lengthen or do not lengthen
نبهت قلبا عن شهودك ما لها
You woke a heart that was not ready for your apparition,
ثنيت عنان المدح عجزا مسلما
I turned away the reins of praise, surrendered,
لقد سدت لما سرت في منهج القوم
When you walked in the path of the people,
سلام كأزهار الرياض النوافح
Greetings like the blossoming flowers of gardens
عروس تحيات من الحسن تنجلي
A bride of greetings radiant with beauty
على ساكني القلمون مني تحية
I send greetings to the people of Qalamon
دار عليها السعد دار
A house blessed with good fortune a house,
من خمرة البكري قطب الأوان
From the wine jug of al-Bukri
رسالة الحق بفتح مبين
The message of truth with clear revelation
دع نظم كل تغزل
Let the composition of all love poetry cease,
أحببت من أضحى عليا كاسمه
I have loved the one whose name is synonymous with sacrifice
خذا حيث أمت عاديات السوانح
Take me wherever my fate leads
حادي الركب سر وحث المطيه
The guide of the caravan hastened in secrecy and urged on his mount
زر قبر بدر سار في فلك البقا
Visit the grave of Badr, wandering in the orbit of eternity,
أفدي بنفسي المكتبي الذي
I sacrifice myself for the school
لم أنس بحمص أنس العي
I have not forgotten Homs, though I roam
وإذا اللئيم غدا بجاه مثريا
When the lowborn gains status through deceit
إلهي أنت فوق رجا المرجي
My God, You are above the hopes of the hopeful one,
يا سادة بهم فقري استحال غنى
O masters, my poverty has turned to wealth
إن السماع سماع الناي
Hearkening to the flute and lute's song
شمس فضل أشرقت لم تغب
A sun of virtue shone and did not set
بيني وبينك في المحبة نكتة
Between you and I in love there is a joke
يلومون في خلع العذار أخا الهوى
They blame me for losing my composure over a beloved,
يا ساقي كأس التجلي
O bearer of the cup of revelation
يا مريد الحان إن شربي حان
O seeker of melodies, it is time for my drinking
مذ تبدى نور بدري
Since the light of my full moon appeared
يا من بأحوالي عالم ما ثم لي غيرك راحم
O You who know my states, none is for me but You, have mercy
كأس شمسنا بعلى سماء بدر الورد
Our sun's chalice on high heaven's full moon rose
ريح الصبا روح بذكر أحبتي
The morning breeze refreshed me with memories of my loved ones
نور بدري لاح في بروج الهالات
Moonlight shone in the mansions of splendor,
بدر التجلي صبرت ليلك
The full moon of epiphany, I endured your night
رد في الهوى صافي دني
My inner self is pure and clear,
غب عن ملام الناطل بشرب صافي الناطل
Keep away from blaming the critic with pure drinking, O critic
أجل كأسي بالسماع بين أرباب المذاق
I raise my cup in hearing among the connoisseurs of taste
أضحت كؤس مدامتي
My cup of wine
قم هات لي كأس السماع
Come, bring me the cup of hearing,
شمس التجلي بدت بالليل
The sun of beauty appeared in the night
يا ميت الحب في العشاق أنت الحي
O you who died of love among lovers, you are alive
يا سالك بالهدى طريق البكري
O seeker on the path of guidance
دعواتي في الغيب عين الشهاده
My prayers in absence are ever present,
لاح بدر تم يجلي منكتم
The full moon's orb emerges radiant from behind the veil
تجلي حبيب الأرواح
The manifestation of the beloved of souls
نحن قوم لنا السماع غذاء
We are a people to whom listening is nourishment
حبي انجلى جماله وقد حان وصاله
My love revealed his beauty, and the time of union has come
بدور بدور الحان دارت كواكبي
The stars revolved in the cycles of melodies
قد طاب كأس الصفا
The cup of wine was sweetened
أقبلت درة الوداد الثمينه
The precious pearl of affection has arrived,
يا لطيف الشمائل
O gentle faced one
إن قلبي لديغ رقط الفراق
My heart is stung by the bite of separation
بدر بدا في دياجر أخفى دجا الكل نوره
A full moon appeared in hidden veils, its light concealed from all
بالله ضع قدميك فوق محاجري
By God, place your feet upon my eyelids
يا مريض الجفون عذبت قلبا
O tormentor of my eyelids, you have tortured a heart
توحيد العين يحلولي بالتثني لا من اثنين
The union of the eye is sweetened by its duality, not from two
إذا من من تهوى عليك بنظرة
If one you love glances at you
بشير أتى من عالم الغيب للحس
A harbinger came from the unseen world to perception
إلام الحشا من لاعج الشوق في سخط
What use is living when severed from the beloved by cruel fate,
لنا نفوس لنيل المجد
We have souls yearning for glory's gain
دعا الناس محي الدين عارف وقته
Mohiuddin Arabi called people in his time
قال لي قائل رأيتك تهوى
One said to me, "I saw you passionately loving
بمحمد وببنته وببعلها
By Muhammad, his daughter and her husband,
يلومون في خلع العذار أخا
They blame me for casting off the veil, O love's brother,
أشرقت في سمائي شمس الشموس
The sun of suns rose in my sky,
يا ربي بالصديق مولانا العتيقِ
O my Lord, give to our sincere friend
أحرقت نار الجنان وجنة البدر الجنان
The fire of heaven burned the garden of the full moon
كن رؤوفا بالوالدين رحيما
Be kind and merciful to your parents
نحن وفد القرى حللنا الخياما
We are the pilgrim party, we pitched the tents
يا نبيا بعثت للخلق رحمه
O Prophet sent as mercy for all creation
أنا الله اعتصامي
God is my refuge,
أهل المحبه بمجلى اسمه تاهوا
The people of love in a gathering named Tahwa
قالوا تحب أبا بكر فقلت لهم
They said you love Abu Bakr, so I told them,
بذكري لك اللهم أرجو تفضلا
With my remembrance of You, O Allah, I hope for grace
لك السعد أسعد يا صبا ما المشام
You are the happiest fortune, O morning breeze!
الشدة عنوان الفرج
Hardship is the sign of relief
هو الشيخ محيي الدين عارف وقته
He is Shaykh Muhyiddin, knower of his time
مؤذن الحب في العشاق نادى حي
The love's muezzin called among the lovers: "Come alive!"

مذ رأيت العاصي أطعت لربي
Since I saw the disobedient one obey his Lord
يا رب غصن وجودي أنت غارسه
O Lord, the branch of my existence You have planted
سلام له وجه من الحب ناضر
A greeting of love illuminates his face,
سطور كمال خطها قلم البها
Lines of perfection written by the pen of glory
الحب مفتاح العطا والجود
Love is the key to generosity and munificence
نحن قوم للحاتمي عبيد
We are a people enslaved to Al-Hatemi
سمحت بإرسال الدموع محاجري
My eyes allowed the tears to flow
شموس الراح من خمر حلال
The suns of tranquility from lawful wine
آية نسيم الأسحار طيب العرار
The breeze of dawn carries the sweetest scent,
كعوب تردت ببرد الجمال
Her anklets slipped with the coolness of beauty,
أنت نسخة الأكوان
You are a copy of the universes
شنف السمع مطربا بالسماع
The singer enchanted hearing with his singing,
رسول الرضا قد أثقلتني جناية
O Messenger of Contentment, a crime has weighed heavily upon me
ما مشروبي غير سكر القوم
My drink is nothing but the sweetness of the beloved
على فقد شهر الصوم تجري المدامع
Tears flow at the loss of the fasting month,
وجه من أهواه أسفر عن صباح وصباح
My beloved's radiance unveiled a dawn and a bright morning
هذا كتاب من محب مغرم
This is a book from a loving admirer
ربنا إننا دخلنا لحصنك
Our Lord, we have entered Your fortress,
بليل الوصال صبح الصفا لاح أبلج
The dawn of harmony shone at nightfall
توسلت بالبكري شمس الحقيقة
I implored the Bakri, the sun of truth,
بادر إلى البكر من يد ساقينا
Hasten to the early wine from the hand of our cupbearer
هزار هيامي بالصبابة يصدح
With youthful passion he sings
جل من أعلى منارك
Rise above your minaret, O full moon
ضممت إلى صدري فتاة صغيرة
I held a young girl close to my chest
قدرة الله قد قضت والإراده
God's decree was fulfilled, and His will
يا مخجل الغزلان بالجيد وقدك الأسمر
O you who shames gazelles with your neck and your tanned complexion,
قالت لم عفت مع دعوى الغرام بنا
She said, "How can you claim to love me
حبي تجلى بالجمال فاعتلى قلبي
My love manifested in beauty and ascended my heart
مذ جئت مستنجدا في عز جاهك من
Since I came seeking aid in your high glory from
بدر التجلي الباهي الباهر
The full moon of radiant beauty,
وإذا العناية لاحظتك عيونها
When Providence's eyes observe you,
لك في قلبي دار وعليك القلب دائر
You have a home in my heart, and my heart revolves around you
قم هات لي خمر الشهود كي نجتلي
Give me the wine of witnessing so we can revel,
في تجلي الشان لم أزل نشوان
In manifesting glory, I have always been joyful
يمم ندى غيث الكرام العلي
The generous rain's dew nourished Ali's nobility
أخ لي بظهر الغيب
A brother of mine in the unseen uplands tends his love,
كل شهم لذاته المدح صالح
Every noble soul praises itself rightly
ألا إن أيوبي شفى الله أوجاعه
Behold! Indeed God healed Ayyub's pains,
أدر خمرة الأسرار في الحان يا سعد
Turn the jar of secrets with melodies, O Saad
قضيتم بحكم الحب يا جيرة الشعب
You judged with love's rule, O neighbors of the people's heart
عريض الرضا ينهل من مزن الإحيا
The generous of consent draws from springs of vitality
فتنت الغيدا بالقد
You adorned the neck with a necklace
قد قال محيي الدين في أبياته
Al-Muhyi al-Din said in his verses
يا سادة ذكرهم شعاري
O masters, mentioning you is my motto
عن المرء لا تسأل وسل عن قرينه
Do not ask about a man, but ask about his companion,
يا روضة النفح بنور الورود
O meadow of fragrance with the light of roses
يا ليلة الوصل هل تعودي
O night of reunion, will you return
ألا قولوا لشخص قد تعدى
Alas, say to someone who has transgressed
بدر جميل الوجه قد أشرق
A beautiful full moon has risen
في المقادير تحكم الأقدار
Fate controls destinies
صفا كأس السماع لنا فطبنا
Pour the cup of music for us, so we are delighted,
كلنا في جماله ذو هيام
We are all enamored with his beauty,
سل في الظلام أخاك البدر عن سهري
Ask your brother the full moon about my wakefulness
لما إلي الحادثات تناسقت
When misfortunes converged upon me,
أدم نحو الحمى سيرك وصف في السرى سرك
Walk towards the fever, describe your mystery and secret in intimacy,
مذ بدا باهي المحيا
Since the radiant beauty appeared
في الأسما جمال الذات بادي
The beauty of the essence is apparent in the skies
عليك سلام الله في الحي يا يحيى
God's peace be upon you, O Yahya, among the living
عيونك أزهى من النرجس
Your eyes are more radiant than daffodils
سواي إذا كان عبد الغني
Whether Abdal-Ghani be my lord,
عليكم بذكر الله جل جلاله
Remember God, glorified is His majesty
إذا مرضنا تداوينا بذكركم
When we are sick, we heal ourselves by remembering you,
ألا أيها الميال عن منهل الورد
O you who are inclined away from the meadow of roses
أقول لأهل اللهو والتيه والحجب
I say to the people of vanity, confusion, and veils
قبر محي الدين إبن العربي
لنا نفوس لنيل المجد عاشقة
كل يوم أروم أن أتملى
إليك وجهت وجهي لا إلى الطلل
قم نحو حماه وانصرف
في بحر ملكك يا رب الوجود جرت
جلوس سلطاننا المسعود طالعه
ولما نالنا معروف قوم
لاح نور الدعا بأفق الطروس
محمد عند الله حي وجدنا
عبد الغني الروض الجني
كأسنا بانسجام رق قرقف
سفينة نوح آل بيت محمد
عند قطب التصريف طولا وعرضا
نهارا تجلى الحق في ليلة السبت
من مجيري من فاتن الطرف فاتك
إن سطا الدهر واعتدى
الحمد للمذكور وهو الذاكر
أفتاة قلبي رحمة بفتاك
نوافح روض الفيض بالطيب تنفح
الحمد لله مهذب النفوس
تبدت هلالا وارتدت بالبها مرطا
قم واستنشق نفح الفرج
إليك رسول الله أشكو نوائبا
من بر والده وأمه
سبق الحكم قبل في تكوينك
بمدام أنس مقام إبراهيما
الحمد للإله هادي الناسك
أنجد المتهم في غزلان طي
منك الكتاب يا علي
يا نسيما حلا بحال المرور
زدت يا بيروت نورا
ليس يخفى ما كان بالحب فاشي
بعد نظم الدعا كعقد الفرائد
كأس الهنا بسلاف الأنس قد طفحت
هي دار الحبيب ما هي داري
حبيب القلب أضحى فيه حاضر
غب دعاء عاطر
نسيم الصبا مهما تلطفت فازدد
حقيقة الحقلا تعد
نظم عقد الدعاء در نضيد
لعلي محاسن الأنوار
ثق بمولى يرعاك يا ابن المعاذ
قد قلت لما من قسي توجهي
أفدي الذي فتن العقول بحسنه
لما خيل الأكدار عدت
فؤاد على غصن الصبابة ساجع
يا منكرين على من
يا مصطفى من قبل نشأة آدم
أصبحت مرآة لحسن مثالكم
إن أسيافنا القصار الدوامي
ولا تطمعن من الصديق مودة
يا ذا الخال ذات الخال صورة مثالك
من غنا البلابل ونوح الحمام
أشرقت شمس العيان
نور شمس القرب أشرق
إذا ليل السحاري طاب
بالخفا تبديك معاني
منية الأرواح وافانا
بك أهوى الغادة والغيدا
بمرآتي صفا مرآه
كأس راحي لي صفا بين ندمان الصفا
جلا المحبوب أيا ندامى
حبي بحبي قد حكم
أقبل الحب علينا
ذكر الإله العالي يا هو يا هو در الآلي
بديع التجلي وسيع الجمال
بذكرى ساكن البطحا
قلب الكليم هائم لم يضع للائم
أيها المشبه بالمثل ذا الجمال حاش
قم واسقني في الورد كأس الشهود
يا بني الصديق أنتم سندي
نديمنا ساقي الندامى
في الذكر ذكري أنزلا تتلوه روحي أزلا
في رياض الصالحيه
شمس نور الذات لاحت
محبوبي جلالي من خمر حلالي
قلب المعنى والحشا نشوان في الحب انتشى
ما عندنا غير الشجون في كل تحريك سكون
راق كأس الخمره من شراب القوم
بنا تجلى لنا منا فأفنتنا بها عنا
انعم فديتك يا بدر تمام
تجلت ربت الخدر
املأ من سلاف الأدنان
كأس المحبه بمسك الأنس لي مختوم
