Above all price and every praiser

5. Especially when its mansions reach their peak
Like the full moon in the sky of merit shining bright

6. Dimming the orbits, the whole world
Praises it for its righteousness

7. Where its water maidens danced
To the tune of lutes and drums

8. Why not, when it has won the most noble abode
And the sweetest sea abundant in virtues

9. They compare it to the sea in ignorance of its merit
Can the sweet Euphrates equal the briny?

10. It wraps itself in the robe of perfection leaving
No way for the words of the hostile critic

11. It has become a penetrating star of guidance
Lofty, while stars cower from the barking of dogs

12. A steed that raced in the track of merit and came first
To the finish line before the other racers

13. When I wave my pen if it strays
I straighten it with the best ink amid the stars

14. It has excelled those who excelled with its easy spirit
And scales weighed down with generosity

15. Hands that spare the poor from poverty
And pour freely unlike the miser's grasping hands

16. A cloud of dew diminishing the sea
And vanishing the tears of weeping eyes

17. O Master whom merit made famous
And appeared like the dawn in the desert shining bright

18. I congratulate you, or rather I congratulate myself
For meeting you has lifted anxiety from my heart

19. Welcome, greetings, blessed is your arrival
You came and we gained wishes and delights

20. While we were estranged from fortune you came
Submissive, weak, gentle, not violent

21. How often it fiercely bit us
May God break its teeth with goblets

22. It did not cease until, true to its name*
A backbiter wounded my heart

23. Forgive lovingly one who blocked its slander
A nude wretch, bless him, do not drive away

24. One like you benevolently shows kindness
And covers up disgraces with virtues
