1. Tears flow at the loss of the fasting month,
And mosques mourn its departure.

2. The land becomes barren without it,
Though abundant rain once poured from its grace.

3. How it revived withering hearts!
How hearts were gladdened since it settled among us!

4. How they fluttered when the banners of guidance arrived,
How eyes sparkled and ears rejoiced!

5. O Ramadan, visitor soon to depart,
Will you return to bid us farewell?

6. Hearts melt with regret and sorrow
At losing you, though your light still shines.

7. Forgive those who fell short, be merciful,
For the star of pardon shines upon us through you.

8. Upon you be God's peace for as long as
A glimmer from the holy precincts glows for our eyes.

9. My God, unite every Muslim
In blessing the best of those among us who fasted,

10. And his family and companions whose fasting
Has been lost, the seal of truth gone from the world.
