1. I called upon your existence wherever there was a caller
Other than You, and You had instilled many incentives in me

2. And You said to me, “Call upon Allah wherever He is the One
Who called me, so how would He not answer my call?”

3. And here I am, calling upon Him after His call
In reciprocation, neither upon me nor for me,

4. For if He has answered out of His overflowing generosity
He is the downpour that pours with noble deeds in abundance

5. Moreover, I hope in Him, and in the One
Who is the door for seekers - I came compatible

6. He is Al-Mustafa, treasure of purity, source of loyalty
Our exemplar of noble choosing, from whom my purity flows

7. And our means with the Almighty - and He
Is the Greatest Mercy, by the grace of the Divine

8. I used him as my intercession with Him, and by his stature
I interceded with the Master, the best of intercessors

9. So my Lord, my share of tribulations has been plentiful
And made my drink bitter after it was pure

10. And from towering trials, Your hands threw me down
To the lowest, most despicable place of my affliction

11. And however much I am thrown by trials towards
Closeness to You, sorrow called to me from behind me

12. The garment of patience tore - what tearing!
And my resources narrowed where I was not accustomed to having a stitcher

13. And my times have stung me with the poison
Of harm, unjustly, and I did not find an antidote

14. For if none but the compliant may hope for gifts
Then who has generosity that they may grant the disobedient?

15. My God, my God - there is none but You to hope in
And by Your right, I have never focused on other than You, hoping

16. And who is there to whom I may complain of the wretchedness of my poverty
And who knows, before I complain, the wretchedness of my condition?

17. Indeed, the passage of time has shaken the pillars of my patience, so the dwellings
Of my palace have become desolate with disasters

18. And dire events have shot me with arrows
Of anguish and distress in them, afflicting me

19. So my Lord, a servant has none in the world of means
Other than You, so I plead being a supplicant

20. Save him with kindness, aid him with wishes
And make truth of favors for him, his hopes

21. And shake the mountains of disasters upon the descent
Of the unveiling of Your beautiful splendor wherever grace attaches me

22. Shall I expect a mirage that glitters, or an illusion of an oasis,
Other than You, when You have purified my drink?

23. And by Your right, I hope for none but You, nor have I
Inclined to other than You, even if my desires were denied

24. If You are my Lord, then it suffices me as an honor
That I am a servant heading towards Your door

25. And it suffices me as a witness to Your Oneness
That You are Singular - we see no second to You

26. If You will to give, then none can prevent, and if
You intend to deprive me, it is the essence of my gift

27. By Your beautiful, sanctified Attributes,
And Your excellent, supreme Names
