ومريضة تشكو إلي بمقلة
A sick woman complains to me with anguish

From the poor writer of circumstances
أبيت وبي وجد حرارته تعلو
I refused but my love persisted, its heat rising,
إليك توجهنا فلاحت لنا البشرى
To you we headed, good tidings shone for us
هلا قنصت غزالة الصياد
Would that I had hunted a gazelle of the hunter
سرى وعليل الريح قد حرك الرندا
The breeze stirred the leaves of the willow
على عذبات البان فاقدة الألف
Upon the sweet-voiced birds bereft of companions
عليك أبا الغر الكرام سلام
Peace upon you, O father of eminent generosity
نحمدك اللهم يا ذا المن
We praise You, O Lord of bounty
قف بالمدائن يمناها ويسراها
Stand by its right side and left side
قف بالمنازل إن الدمع مدرار
Stop at the dwellings though the tears are flowing
هوى قمر الزوراء من أفق المجد
The moon of Al-Zawraa has set in the horizon of glory
هو الروض ريح المجد منه يفوح
He is the garden, the breeze of glory emanates from him
لك عليه لواء الملك منشور
The banner of sovereignty flies open for you,
طويل غرامي في هواك قصير
My longing for your love is short
خذها كما غنى الحمام مطوقا
Take it as the pigeon cooed encircled,
هي ظبية في صورة الإِنسان
She is a gazelle in the form of a human
بأبي حنيفة من زكت آثاره
With my fathers in faith who left shining traces
هو الطف فاجعل فضة الدمع عسجدا
He is the gentle one, so make the silver of tears prostrate,
تراءت لطرفي في الظلام بروق
In the darkness, lightning flashes appeared before my eyes,
شوق يحركني إلى الحدباء
Longing moves me to al-Hadbaa'
نزل الربيع فمرحبا بغصونه
Spring has come, so welcome its branches
تعالى الله من ملك تعالى
Come, O God, from the kingdom come
إلى الله قد فوضت أمري وحاجتي
To God I have entrusted my affair and my need
ما روضة خيم قيصومها
No garden is like a tent's pasture
وقبة مولانا علي كأنها
Our Master Ali's dome is like
رشأ كأن بثغره البسام
He blossomed as if the smile on his face
لعمري أنتم العرب الكرام
By my life, you are the noble Arabs
صادني ربرب الحمى والمصلى
The curly-locked one aimed me from the shrines and mosque
قضيب تثنى في غلائله الخضر
A bending rod amidst the greenery
أمن روضة غناء باكرها القطر
From a garden of melody, the morning dew awakened it
أهيل النقا هل من سبيل إلى اللقا
My friends, is there any way to meet again?
تم نقصي وكملت حالاتي
My defects have been remedied and my states perfected
زاد من لوعة الغرام الغريزي
His innate passion's torment grew more intense,
ضوء ذاك المقام يزداد ومضا
The light of that abode grows brighter in its glow
العز في مشق الحسام الأخضر
Glory lies in the draw of the green scimitar,
تمكنت من نفسي فأزمعت قتلها
I gained power over myself, so I intended to kill it
مدت تصانيف أهل العلم وانتشرت
The writings of the scholars spread
رويدك أيها الرجل الكريم
Slow down, O generous man,
رمتني سمرة الأوراق حتى
The leaves have cast their shadows on me until
سرت نفحات الحق من جانب القدس
The breezes of truth blew from the holy side,
صبحتم بالخير يا سادة
Good morning to you, O masters
ظهر الحق من معان ولفظ
The truth emerged in meaning and word
بوجهك أزهرت بلد ودار
With your face a country and home bloomed
طوبى لتلك المطايا يوم مسراها
Blessed are those mounts on the day of their delight,
اقطع بذهنك قطع الصارم الذكر
Cut with your mind like the cutting of a sharp sword,
أبو حسن له القدح المعلى
Abu Hassan has the highest virtue
بقدومكم راق الزمان وفاقا
With your arrival, time became excellent and surpassed
أيا بدر أفلاك الكمال ومن رقا
O full moon, apex of perfection and sublime one
بأبيه ساد وجوده وأصوله
His existence and lineage were ennobled by his father
لامني لائمي ورام مجالا
No one blames me though I yearn
أضوء بان أم طلع النهار
Is it the dawn that shines or has the day emerged
سلام كساه الشوق حزنا ورونقا
Peace adorned with longing, sorrow and charm
دعاها إذا غنت على الروضة الغنا
When she sang in the garden, her singing inspired us
ما بين أطلال النقا ورماله
Between the ruins of al-Naqa and its sands
قام حادي النياق يحدو النياقا
The guide led the camels in song
بدر أضاء وبرق بالعقيق سرى
The full moon shone and lightning flashed in 'Aqeeq,
بشائركم وافت وقد وجب الشكر
Your good tidings have arrived, and gratitude is obligatory,
سار سر النبي في كل جنس
The secret of the Prophet spread in every race
مقامك يا ابن الأكرمين جليل
Your status, O son of the most honorable, is sublime
غزال من الأتراك واصلني سرا
A gazelle from the Turks secretly reached me
بكت وبكى من أجلها العقد والنحر
The beads and sacrifice wept bitterly for her,
تبدت فلاح البدر من داخل البرد
The radiance of the full moon appeared from within the cold
غب عن الكون قد أتاك البلاغ
The time has come, eloquence has reached you
سفرت بوجه نير براق
With a radiant, glowing face she traveled,
لي عدو ملقب بالحبيب
I have an enemy nicknamed my beloved
ألا يا نسيم الصبح كرر رسالة
O morning breeze repeat my message
سلام على وادي الأراك سلام
Peace upon the valley of Al-Arak, peace,
أرى عبرات الكون فاض عبابها
I see the tears of the universe overflowing
ماذا على من شم تربة أحمد
What is upon one who smells Ahmad's soil
بني المصطفى يا غاية القصد والمنى
O Family of Mustafa, O ultimate goal and desire
بدا فضلكم يا صفوة الخلق والذرى
Your excellence has become apparent, O finest of people and descendants,
رسائل عبد الله تحكي بحسنها
Abdullah's messages tell with their beauty
أرى الآمال قد نتجت وطابت
I see hopes have borne fruit and thrived
حططت بباب عزك يا ملاذي
I placed my burdens at your door, O my refuge
رياض عليها جوهر الطل ينثر
Gardens strewn with pearls of dew
على المختار صلى الله
Blessings of God on the Chosen One
ثبت الحب وهو لا شك ماكث
Love remained steadfast, no doubt it stays
صفوة الله من جميع الخصوص
The chosen one of Allah among all mankind
لك جاه لدى الإله جليل
You have great status with the Exalted God
بكم طابت الفيحا وطاب ورودها
With you the meadows became fragrant, and its roses fragrant,
قف بالمنازل والجناب الأخضر
Stand at the abodes and the verdant expanse
ما بال قلبك يرعوي ويعود
What ails your heart that wanders and returns
بدا قمر العرفان من فلك الخضرا
The moon of gnosis rose from the verdant orbit,
بدا روضة من جنة الخلد إذ بدا
It appeared as a garden from the eternal paradise when it appeared
جاء بالحق صاحب المعراج
The one who ascended to the highest came with the truth
خص بالفضل والكمال الشامخ
Endowed with merit and perfection sublime
فلو نظروا في مصر أوصاف خده
Had they seen the beauty of his cheek in Egypt
بشائر غنت في خمائل من ورد
Tidings sung in bouquets of roses,
ريم بمبسمه جوف الظلام جلا
With her smile, Rim lit up the dark night
أتاك الله بالفرج الجلي
God has granted you manifest relief
تمسكت من ربي بأوثق عروة
I clung to my Lord's secure rope
مليك نماه الصيد والسادة النجب
A king whose hunting and nobles excel
بشرى السعادة قد وافت بلا حرج
Good tidings of happiness have arrived without hardship
سقى الله تلك الدار هامية القطر
May Allah water that abode with abundant rain
ثنى قدها ريح الصبا فتأودا
The breeze of dawn bent her slender shape, so she swayed gently,
الحمد لله في صبح وإمساء
Praise be to Allah in the morn and eve
روض سقته من الوسمي أمطار
A garden watered by the rains of al-Wusmi
كف الملام فلست أول عذلي
Cease blaming, for you are not my first reproacher
بكيت دما لما سرى بارق الحمى
I wept blood when the lightning of fever flashed,
جاور عليا ولا تحفل لحادثة
Dwell with the Most High, and heed not what befalls;
سلام كروض جاده وابل القطر
Greetings like a garden path showered with raindrops
هنيئا فإن الدهر يزهو ويزهر
Congratulations! For time blossoms and flourishes
بفضلكم السامي الوجود تلالا
With your sublime existence, hills of glory arose
بأبي وأمي من أتاني زائرا
By my father and mother, he who came visiting me
بشراك بالعقد المضيء الثمين
I bring you glad tidings of a bright, precious necklace
مضت سعدى فقلت لها أقيمي
My joy passed away, so I called to her: stay!
يا واحد العصر وفخر الورى
O pride of the age and glory of mankind
سلام كأنفاس الرياحين بثها
A greeting like the breeze's breaths it scatters
طاب مدح النبي نشرا وبسطا
Praising the Prophet spread widely
شمس حق تلألأت فوق عرش
The sun of truth shone above the throne
ذكر القلب ذنبه فاستعاذا
My heart recalled its sin and sought refuge,
رضاء من الرحمن في كل ساعة
Blessings from the Merciful in every hour
ومهفهف لعب الدلال بعطفه
The charmer playfully dangles his bait,
سرت بهجة الأرواح في البر والبحر
Joy spread in the land and sea
قل لسعيد الجد يا واحد
Tell Sa'eed of great deed, O one
هيج الطرس كامنا ثم أورى
The embers stirred dormant passion in me
ولع القلب في الهوى بالغلو
The heart is passionately in love, exceeding all bounds
بني أحمد يا خيرة الله في الورى
O sons of Ahmed, the best of Allah among people
وورقاء غنت فوق أغصانها الخضر
The green leaves sang
يا خير من حل في حل وفي حرم
O best of those who settled in settlements and sanctuaries
أبرق الحمى حدث عن الأبرق الفرد
The lightning of Al-Hima flashed, so talk of the solo lightning,
فقت كل الورى بغير خلاف
You surpassed all people without contention,
عربي منه الفخار يضوع
He is the origin, the essence from which excellence springs
مد فضلا على الوجود عميما
He extended favor upon existence entirely
أشرق القلب بالجمال المضيء
My heart shone bright with beauty
أيها الواحد المسمى حسينا
O you who is called Hussein
در ثدي الوصال عند الورود
In the bosom of union, at the meadows,
يا أبا السبطين يا نور الهدى
O father of two grandsons, O light of guidance
أي صوت سمعته من بعيد
Any voice I heard from afar
رف برق الحجاز والدمع جار
The lightning of Hijaz wept,
برز السر من خفايا الغيوب
The secret emerged from the unseen's obscurities
يا ابن الأطايب من أبناء حيدرة
O son of the virtuous, from the sons of Haydara
أنجم بدا في الأفق أم طلعة البدر
كل جود فمن نوال نداكا
نصر الحق بالقنا والسنان
يا صاحبي هلا مررت بخندف
أمن تذكر جيران بذي سلم
الحمد لله حمدا طاب وانتشرا
شرف مضى ونظيره يتجدد
بحار ندى من بعضها نبع البحر
ماذا أقول بمدح ذي الشرف الذي
قضى النحب من لولاه ما عرف النحب
قم وانظر البدر المنير المسفرا
أبوجهه بدر الفضائل يهتدي
ساروا بقلبي وأرض الطف قد نزلوا
جزى الله عني من أضيف إلى اسمه
بني الحرب والهيجاء والشرف الضخم
روق الكأس وعجل بالندامى
يا رب صل على محمد
أيا من فضله في الناس واف
قسما بحسن قوامك الممشوق
بدت وأديم الأفق بالنجم معجم
وأردت أن أبدي لذلك توبة
بيض تسل من الجفون السود
سرى البارق النجدي والجو مظلم
يا راحة الأرواح
إلهي اكفني من كل سوء وحادث
المجد بحر أنتم وراده
يا من أتى نقص الزمان فكمله
لقبة مولانا علي أشعة
زار الشفاء وهذه آثاره
قصر عليه رواق العز مقصور
يا من له حضرة في القدس منزلها
صاح ما بين رامة والمصلى
بأيامنا بين المجرة والقصر
سلامي وإن شط المزار عليكما
جمعوا شملهم بخصب وماء
دعها تسير ولا تمل من السرى
العز في شفة الحسام الأخضر
حل وجدي فما له من براح
هذه طيبة وهذي رباها
يا لساني صرح بمدح النبي
