وَأَنتَ رَضِيُّ البالِ وَالنَّفس تَذهَبُ
2. Like a bird in the palm of a child who torments it
The roses of death's garden, and the child plays
٢. كَعُصفورَةٍ في كَفِّ طِفلٍ يَسومُها
ورودُ حِياضِ المَوتِ وَالطِّفل يَلعَبُ
3. So neither does the child know what he torments in his palm
And in his palm a bird struggles
٣. فَلا الطِّفلُ يَدري ما يَسومُ بِكَفِّهِ
وَفي كَفِّهِ عُصفورَة تَتَضَرَّبُ
