1. My longing for your love is short
Yes, and my passion for you is little

2. You have transcended so all creatures extol your superiority
Throughout time from all directions they point to your favor

3. You are the suns of all the worlds together
And in the darkness of the night the mindless wander astray

4. You have illuminated all directions because you
Are, O family of Ahmad, the light for all the worlds

5. And when the fire of passion blazed and stirred
Hearts with ancient longing overflowing

6. We marched on the dust till we were as though
We marched atop the mighty seven heavens

7. The meteors of our steeds seemed to soar as
Birds returning to their nests in flight

8. Seahawks driven by passion over the plains
Pigeons that have bowed for travel and hawks

9. Moved by longing as their nature and how often their
Hoofs have cried at the march's outset

10. We climbed upon them while the wings did not cease
To kindle with departure's blaze

11. Eyes and lids pouring forth and a soul
Melting while great longing filled hearts

12. We came seeking union for you are
Succors for those who want drink and seas

13. We came to you faces covered in dust and your earth
Is a cleanser and water for hearts' purity

14. And we visited you, best of Allah among creation
And our visitor and visited have found pleasure

15. And we came shedding tears that poured
Down our cheeks in rivers from the brims

16. We kissed the soil of that place for it
Is sweet water when thirst and heat strike

17. And when those embers were extinguished by union
And the seekers of union received their reward

18. We came to the martyred grandson, Haydar's pearl
With no peer among mankind elsewhere

19. And the Chosen's basil, what fragrance it exudes
When robes and cloaks are perfumed by it

20. And how he embraced it to his chest indicating
They are for the worlds altogether a refuge

21. And he kissed a mouth from it while his face shone
With a joy that made him happy and glad

22. He was touched by it alive and told his people
Of what he attained, no doubt an expert

23. Was he not when the evil deed occurred aroused and
The enemy horses in Karbala stirred

24. Horses that roamed when their dignitaries banded
Against them a foolish betrayer and transgressor

25. So they galloped upon the Prophet's family, oh what
Calamities befell the honored revolving among them

26. Was there none among them who remembered Ahmad
And his copious tears for the assailants?

27. Was there none among them who recalled his daughter
And her dishonor in Karbala wandering confused?

28. Was there none among them who recalled Haydar
The warrior, battle's audacious leader?

29. Was there none among them who would pity children
Whose plight in Karbala was lament and wailing?

30. Were the Prophet's children forbidden water despite
The abundant Euphrates flowing there?

31. Little ones who faced the heat were rendered scorched
With none on the day of departure to protect

32. I ransom with my own little children their little ones
Whose plight was greatest among all mankind

33. May He who rules the Throne quench your thirst with them
A drink that makes your minds boil overflowing

34. You have transgressed and saddened the Messenger in his grave
And extinguished a light in existence giving light

35. You are wretched and Hell is the abode of the wretched
With Hellfire's roar and raging blaze

36. No matter, though they were wronged Allah has a silver coin
For such are sublime stations and great reward

37. Hussain, Hussain who can compare to you in nobility
And excellence, O Prophet's grandson so renowned

38. I sacrifice myself, my soul, and my being for you
And that is but paltry and insignificant

39. Nor do I forget al-Abbas whose
Nobility deserves all manner of praise

40. Lofty was he, descended from Haydar's
Father, and of grave importance there

41. He has a station above all stations
And a lofty seat and position of nobility

42. O noble kin, my heart in love to you has wandered
Burning with grief on the day of woe and lament

43. To your grandfather I owe kindness and favor
Abundant generosity and benefaction

44. He guided me when I knew not guidance
And so I set out prisoner of true guidance

45. Shall I forget your munificence O Hashimite descendants
And disavow it? I would be ungrateful

46. Upon your grandfather most virtuous prayers descend
With abundant greetings and veneration upon him

47. Encompassing all his family and companions
Guided by him to the perfection they sought
