1. A king whose hunting and nobles excel
With a river of virtue unmatched by the seven planets

2. And a resolute guardian whose deaf opinion
Is that he does not deviate from the path of virtue

3. He was nurtured on the milk of knowledge as a child and youth
We were deprived of his outstanding virtues

4. He was raised in Sus as stars rising
Yet he is the zenith of their ascent

5. With Ahmed praise, gratitude and eulogy grew long
And he surpassed the high, glorious and fertile land

6. And how can glory elude one whose only concern
Is to yearn for virtue and eminence for its own sake

7. Not everyone who aspires to ascend its heights succeeds
For its path is rugged and its mount arduous

8. It is inconceivable that anyone could climb its peaks
Except a hero who triumphs in every glorious endeavor

9. With his determination he contends with the orbit of the heavens
And through him lands and spacious dwellings rise high

10. A laughing spring when the wheel of fate turns his way
And a rain when drought befalls his land

11. A cloud of generosity scattering free-flowing charity
With sweet water and fertile meadows

12. He rose above the steeds of glory, intrepid racers
Whose strides conquer the hills and necks subdue the dunes

13. Sagacious, his bright intellect dispels doubt
When matters grow dark and turbulent

14. Gracious, courageous, silent and dignified, unshaken by events
With a fiery intelligence piercing the deaf, its light held in that heart

15. Noble, perplexing the mind in describing him
As books and scrolls fall short of comprehending him

16. And I, who am but mine, how can I eulogize him
When my heart, at every moment, is his heart

17. Memories of the loved one fill me at all times
And my tears for him flow in every quarter

18. If my praise falls short of your sublime state
My heart, O noblest of people, still aspires

19. You are the light of my eye and vision's illumination
My rain when drought befalls my land

20. The world sings your praises, and its people
All foreigners and Arabs bow to you

21. It has seven regions, so if an eighth comes
Slandering you, know that the eighth is a dog

22. Long live the spring of generosity and life for you
May your grace, honor and intimacy endure

23. Spared from turmoil, far from harm
Safeguarded from foes, worshipper of the Lord
