1. Peace upon the valley of Al-Arak, peace,
For I had a pledge with it and a bond.

2. I drank the water of life from it, fresh,
And reached the full moon of life at its prime.

ูููุงุตูุช ุจูุฏุฑ ุงูุญู ููููู ุชูู

3. And many a bird whose lips I've kissed
Had not uncovered them before that veil.

4. The doe-eyed gazelles in sorcery it possessed,
Scattering pearls of speech - and that's their parlance.

ููุงุฑูู ุณูููุท ุงูุฏุฑ ููููู ูููุงู
5. And I let fall from my tears necklaces
Upon the cheeks' pages lining up.

ุนููู ุตููุญุงุช ุงูููุฌู ููููู ููุธุงู
6. He'd glance at me from the corner of his eye though drowsy
And present me with a branch while upright.

ูููุชุญููู ุจูุงูุบุตู ููููู ููุงู
7. And he'd kiss me rose after rose
With the sick glance's blade upon it.

ูู ุงูููุญุธ ุงูู
ูุฑูุถ ุญุณุงู
8. And he stood offering me from his lips a wine
With musk's seal upon it at its conclusion.

9. Youth's meadow had made him stagger and writhe,
With neither soberness nor permanence.

ูููููุณู ุจููู ูุง ููุงูุนุฐูุจ ู
ุฏุงู
10. Woe for my love of the white, fine, and slender -
With a line of moles on their cheek - blamers.

ูุงุญุฉ ูุงู

My eyelids did not know what estrangement was

12. And who had flirted with the does - how could they sleep?
The passing breeze would make us fragrant at dusk

13. And we'd hear the sound of the fox as it prowled.

ุณู ููููู ุจุดุงู
14. And from the garden and cliffs of Hejaz we'd sense
A fragrance emulating musk from its north.

ูููุงุฌูุช ุตูุจุงุจุงุช ูููุง ููุบูุฑุงู
15. And many a dove moaned its yearning for its kind,
So passions stirred in us and love.

ููุฏุฑ ุฃููู ู
ูููู ุฃูููู ุตูุจุงุจุฉ
ููุฃูู ูุฑุงูู ู
ู ุฃุญุจ ุญู
ุงู
16. Does it not know that I am stronger in passion than it
And that parting from the loved one is more poignant for me?

ูุน ุงูุธูุจู ุงูุฃูุบู ู

17. Our nights with him were like a flashing lightning
And living with the antelope is but a slumber.

ูุช ุงููุฐุงุช ุนุดูุง ุจูุบุจุทุฉ

ุง ููู ุฏููุงู
18. If pleasures lasted we would have lived in joy
But alas, they have no permanence.

ู ูู ุฐุฑุงู ุญูุฑุงู
19. There I pledged to live while its water was pure
Yes, and my nook there is now forbidden.

20. I protected it with the blades of swords, lads
Who have no experience but preserving the sheaths.

ูู ูุณุฌ ุงูููุดูุฌ ุฎููุงู
21. They protected slender waists with long pipes
Over them from woven haircloth were tents.

ู ุฏุงุฑุงู ุจุฑุงู

ูุฑุชุน ุบูุฏ ููู ูููุณู ุชุฑุงู
22. May God water an abode, expansive,
And pasture in which there is no contention.

ุงูุญุฌุงุฒ ููุฅููููู
ูููู ูู ููุคุงุฏู ุญุฑูุฉ ููุถุฑุงู
23. And may He keep alive the life of the meadows of Hejaz, for it
Has in my heart a burning and blazing.

24. It was distinguished among people with beauty alone
As the sublime and lofty eagle is distinguished.

25. Exalted Ali, perfect in merit, has risen
To a position whose name is peerless.

ููุฃูู ููุฏูู ูููุฃููุงู

26. He is the ocean of knowledge, rather he is the ocean obtained,
As if his hands for people are clouds.

ููุบูุซ ููุฃูู
ุง ุฐููู ููุญุณุงู
27. And a river of virtues - as for his knowledge,
It is rain, and as for his mind, it is a sharp sword.

ุฃูููุน ุงูุฌููู ุนููุฏูุง
ุฃูููุจูู ู
ูุน ุงูุตูุจุญ ุงูู
ูุถูุก ุธููุงู
28. The sciences were illuminated at dawn in his presence -
Can darkness remain with the shining dawn?

ููุฅู ูุซุฑุช ูููู
ุงูุฌูุฏุงู ุฎุตุงู
29. And a fierce debater who silenced the opponent alone -
Even if conflict increased on the day of debate.

ุฅูุฐ ูุงูู ุดููุฎู
ูููุตุฑ ุนูููู ุบุงุฑุจ ููุณูุงู
30. He protected the sanctum of Islam when he was its Sheikh,
So both the setting and rising sun fell short of him.

ููุธูุฑ ุนููููู ููุธุงู
31. Through him the noble Sharia was systematized and judged,
And were it not for him, no system would have appeared in it.

ุง ุนูุชู ุบูุฑุฉ ูููุชุงู

His brilliant sermons shine with his white opinions

ุญุฌุฉ
ุจููุง ุณูู
ุงูุญูู ุงูู
ูุจูู ูููุงู
33. When zeal and darkness ascend them.
So he matched the soundest argument with proof

ุงุชุฑูุฏู ุบุงูุจ
ููุฌููุด ุงูุฅูู
ุงู
ุงูุฃูุดุนุฑู ููุงู
34. By which the manifest truth was established.
Thus the doctrine of the Mu'tazilis was defeated

ููุชุนุฏู ูููู ุฃูุนูุงููู ุณููุงู
35. And the army of Imam Ash'ari overwhelmed.
And the armies of determinism retreated routed

ูู ูุงุฑ ุจูุฃุณู
ููููุฏ ุนู
ูุช ุฃูุจุตุงุฑูู
ููุชูุนุงู

36. Charging with arrows in the napes of their necks.
The eyes of the rejectors were burnt by the fire of his might
ูฃูฆ. ููุฃูุตุจูุญ ููุฌู ุงูุงุนุชุฒุงู ู
ูุถุฑูุฌุงู
ูุฃูุณูุงูู ูู ุตููุญุชูู ุฒุญุงู
37. And their visions were blinded and confused.
And the face of the literalists was stained

ุทูุฑ ุงูููุธุงู
ุฃููุจูุญ ุทูุฑุฉ
ูููุงูู ูููู ุนููุฏู ุงูููุงุก ููุงู
38. By his swords that crowded their cheeks.
And how many times corrupt innovation recoiled
ูฃูจ. ููููุฏ ููุต ุจูุงูู
ููููู
ู
ููุทูู ููุถูู
ุจูุฃูู ุซููุงู ููููููุจ ุฒู
ุงู
39. Finding him fierce when meeting him.
And he triumphed with the implied meaning of his virtue
ูฃูฉ. ุฌููุงูุฑ ููุถู ูุนุดู ุงูููุซุฑ ููุธู
ูุง
ููููุญูู ูุซุงุฑ ุนููุฏูุง ููููุธุงู
40. By restraining it with a bridle for hearts.
Jewels of merit whose prose its poetry loves -

ุงูู
ูููุตุฑ ูููุธ ุฏููู ูููููุงู
41. Thus its scattering is sweet and orderly for it.
And he freed the confinement of praise from his perfection -
ูคูก. ูููุง ุฃูููููุง ุงูุทูุฏ ุงูููุฐู ุทูุฃุทุฃุช ูููู
ููุถุงุจ ุนูููููุง ุณุงุฏุฉ ููููุฑุงู
42. So words fell short of it and speech.
O towering mountain to which plateau submitted

ูู ุธูุฑ ุงูุดูุฑูุนุฉ ู
ูุฑูุจุงู
ูููู ูููู ููู ุงูุดุงู
ูุฎุงุช ุณููุงู
43. With masters and nobles upon it.
You mounted the Shariaโs back firmly seated -
ูคูฃ. ูููู ุงูุฑุชุจุฉ ุงูุนูููุงุก ููุงูุญุดู
ุฉ ุงูููุชู
ูููุง ุงูุฏููุฑ ุนูุจุฏ ููุงูุฒูู
ุงู ุบููุงู
44. Above all towering heights your minaret.
To you belong the supreme station and reverence

ุน ููุธุงู
ููุตูุฏุฉ
ูููุงุตููุง ุฅููุง ุนูููู ุญูุฑุงู
45. To which the age is slave and time is boy.
By your right stand and listen to the order of a poem
ูคูฅ. ุฃูุชูุชู ุนููู ููุฃู ุงูุฏููุงุฑ ููุจูุนุฏูุง

ูู ุฑุงุญูุชูู ุฃูุงู
46. To carry on would be, but for you, unlawful.
It has come to you from afar and distant places
ูคูฆ. ููุชุดุฑุญ ุฃูุญูุงูู ููุฏููู ููุฅูููููู
ุจููุช ุจูุฃูููุงู ุนูู ุชูุงู
47. To extinguish some of your blazing passions.
And to relate my state to you, for I

ููู ุฏููุฑู ุจูุฃูุถูู ุนููุดู

ูู ูููุช ู
ูููุงู ูููููุณู ููุถุงู
48. Am afflicted with formidable horrors.
My fate has guaranteed me the narrowest living

ููุฃุฎุตุจ ุฑุจุงุนู ุญููุซ ุฃููุช ุบู

49. And he whose master I was will not forsake me.
Lighten my stumbling and raise my status through your esteem

ููุซูุฑุฉ
ููุฃูุบุฏู ููู
ุง ู
ูููุง ุนูู ู
ูุงู
50. And make my dwellings prosperous where you are a cloud.
That I may fulfill many rights for knowledge

ูุฌุฏู ุชูุฑุชููู
ุฅููู ููู ุงูุฃูููุงู ููููู ุชูู

51. And not be blamed, though I fall short of them.
For the moons of your glory do not cease rising
