سفرت بوجه نير براق

1. With a radiant, glowing face she traveled,
Spreading her beauty over the horizons.

١. سفرت بِوَجه نير براق
فَسرت مَحاسنها عَلى الآفاق

2. She rose to the pinnacle of perfection, and she
Kindled the passions of all the lovers.

٢. وَعلت عَلى شَرف الجَمال وَإنها
وَلعت بفت مَرائر العُشاق

3. Her charms were guarded by her eyelids, for
She had enchanted with a spell piercing the depths.

٣. حرست محاسنها الجُفون لأَنَّها
سَحرت بسحر حل في الآماقِ

4. She recited the Koran of beauty virtuously,
And its verses flowed smoothly and openly.

٤. وَقرت بِقُرآن الجَمال تَنزها
وَرقت مَراتبه عَلى الإطلاق

5. Her nights of union were gentle, so for that
The eyes of the impassioned lover were serene.

٥. رقت لَيالي وَصلها فلأجل ذا
قَرت عُيون المغرم المُشتاق

6. She came to me at dawn while my eyes
Were confused by that neck and those glances.

٦. راحَت إِلي إِلى الصَباح وَمُقلَتي
حارَت بِذاك الجيد وَالأحداق

7. I slept, shedding tears for her absence,
While I slumbered in a flood, copious and pouring.

٧. منت علي وَادمعي لفراقها
نمت بِسَيل مغدق مهراق

8. What a lovely human form took shape!
Glory to that Creator, the Maker!

٨. حسن تشكل صورة بشرية
سُبحان ذاكَ الباري الخَلاق

9. And I had drunk a wine aged
To perfection in beauty and purity.

٩. وَلَقَد شربت مدامة قَد عتقت
مِن رائِعات في الجَمال عتاق

10. It is a delight for the drinkers, a pleasure
For the beholders, a spell for the infatuated.

١٠. هِي راحة للشاربين وَنزهة
للناظِرين وَطلسم للراقي

11. The cupbearer had poured me this wine at dawn,
And I was patient - bring it here, cupbearer!

١١. خمر سقانيها النَديم عَلى الصبا
وَلَقَد صَبرت فهاتها يا ساقي

12. A ruby that was formed in the water
And coiled itself in necklaces around her neck.

١٢. ياقوتة شجت بِماء فَالتَوى
في جيدها طَوق مِن الأَطواق

13. And it surpassed the wine even in its bubbles,
So behold the superiority of jewels in necklaces.

١٣. وَرقى عَلى الراووق در حبابها
فانظر قِيام الدر في الدرياق

14. Arise and serve it to me, for the time is propitious
And its hour is in the hands of the lovers.

١٤. قُم وَاسقنيها فالزَمان موافق
وزمانه في قبضة العشاق

15. Arise, for time has raised its pillars,
And the thousands have mounted the pulpits of leaves.

١٥. وانهض فقد رفع الزمان عموده
وَرقى الهزار منبر الأَوراق

16. Dew drips its water as if it were
The hand of Jesus in generosity.

١٦. وَالطل يَقطر ماؤه فكَأنه
كف ابن عيسى حالة الإِنفاق

17. My lord Abdallah, so generous
That all necks are outstretched toward him,

١٧. مَولاي عَبد اللَه ذي الجود الَّذي
مدت إِلَيهِ سائر الأَعناق

18. A cloud that brought rain to revive the faithful,
And whose pouring was abundant in the horizon,

١٨. غيث أَغاث المؤمنين سَحابه
وَسَقيطه قَد فاقَ في الآفاق

19. A sea of generosity - if you meet with him,
You meet with kindnesses and favors,

١٩. بَحر مِن الجَدوى إِذا لاقيته
لاقاكَ بالألطاف وَالارفاق

20. And if you stay in his house, then happiness
Rises over you from light and radiance.

٢٠. وَإِذا أَقَمت بِداره قامَت بِكَ ال
أَفراح مِن نور وَمِن إِشراق

21. He is a spring for the thirsty, a watering place
For the newcomer, and mercy for all creatures.

٢١. هُوَ منهل للطارقين وَمَورد
للوافدين وَرَحمة للباقي

22. The gifts of his hospitality spread
Precious gifts and every sublime boon.

٢٢. نشرت عَلى الأَضياف مِن ألطافه
تحف النَوال وَكل بر راقي

23. A band who dislike no guest of theirs
Since reverence for duty lodged in them.

٢٣. مِن مَعشر لا يَكرهون نَزيلهم
مُذ حَل فيهم خشية الإملاق

24. Generous, they raise their houses
For the guest, with pillars and porch.

٢٤. أَنواء جود يَرفعون بيوتهم
للضيف عَن عَمد لَها ورواق

25. They ask no questions about anyone who comes,
And show the utmost compassion for the stranger.

٢٥. لا يَسألون عَن السواد إِذا أَتى
وَالغَير مِنهُ بِغاية الإشفاق

26. O lord of the lords of Yemen,
Who know no falsehood or divorce,

٢٦. يا سَيداً مِن سادة يَمنية
لَم يَعرفوا الزورا وَباب الطلق

27. Of the deep-thinking judges, the high-minded,
The generous, the open-handed,

٢٧. مِن حمير الأقيال من هام العلى
وَالمَجد وَالإعطاء وَالإنفاق

28. For you is the inheritance, generation after generation,
And yours is the eternity from the Eternal God.

٢٨. فلك الوراثة كابِراً عَن كابر
وَلَكَ الدَوام مِن الإِله الباقي
