1. The beads and sacrifice wept bitterly for her,

2. She wept when she saw I was bent on leaving,
And you, tears flowed down her cheek in streams.

3. When she knew I was serious she clung
To my robe, and from her sleeves wafted perfume.

4. She got up and pressed me against her chest in an embrace,
My chest appeared aflame from the burning of her agony.

Still new to our love, how can this be our parting?

6. At that glance my eyes welled for her
And in my mind her burning stirred up embers.

7. I said, though loath to part from a lover and intimate
Who delights in your love and command,

8. He wants to leave though love still grips his heart
He tries what neither white nor black can achieve.

9. But O daughter of Amr son of Malik,
I hated my home when the wilderness enticed me.

ููุฑูุช ุฏูุงุฑู ุญููู ูุฐ ูู ุงููููุฑ
10. I will traverse the desert aiming for more desert
And ride the turbulent sea however stormy.

11. On a swift steed whose sight challenges sights
Dashing like a frightened ostrich with fluttering wings.

ุง ุชูุฌุฑู ุจูุณุจุณุจูุง ุงูุนูุฑ
12. Galloping like a dark night without a moon,
Its ships the wheeling planets, its lamps the blossoming stars.

13. It struck the rocky ground until fountains sprang forth
And from them surged waters though dawn had not come.

14. It flew like a mother ostrich calling her chick
Though it had fallen from the nest and could not return.

15. I said gently, gently, for truly it is
Beyond an eagle's reach however it soars.

16. It called may God forbid that I leave the beloved's abode
For a house that, when I reach it, confirms my reward.

17. A breeze from their dwellings will surely guide me
To the ruins, a secret spirit stirs in its dust.

18. The light of the Leader Haidari before which
Even beaming sun and full moon grow dim.

19. His basil, how often the pure Ahmed inhaled
Until from its sweet air his being blossomed.

20. He bears the noble resemblance to half of Mohammed
While the handsome, pure Fatimah won the rest.

21. They divided the likeness of the Prophet by inheritance,
Matchless pride to which all pride bows.

22. They are the two dots beneath the Prophet's Ya,
How often the Chosen's breast drew them near!

23. They are the cooling of Batoul's eyes, and Haydarโ
How strange that time has wronged them so!

25. They are two warriors of war, lions of bravery,
Life-giving rains of bounty when the clouds hold back their boon.

26. They are oceans of knowledgeโif you draw from their tides
You will be sated, and grasp in your palms a share of their excellence.

27. O Hussein the grandson, son of Mohammed
Who was exalted above all in both worlds!

28. Your tragedy has clothed existence in mourning
Until the end of time, though time itself expires.

29. In every heart burns a fire flaming from it,
In every breast its flames kindle piercing heatโ

30. Generosity wept because you fell to the earth
Until now its tears flow unchecked by betrayal's sword.

31. If the lashes wept water at your loss
Then the horizon's eyes wept tears of crimson.

32. The world was deprived when your blackness was hidden
Good flipped to evil and order turned on its head.

33. Black tribulations have befallen the world
Covering each heart in the darkness of their veil.

34. A blazing affliction whose burning is unquenched
With embers that smolder eternally in every limb.

35. Were the Prophet's children denied life's water
By oppressors? Exalted is He! Dire is the matter!

ูููุง ุฃูุจูุฏุงู ูู ููู ุฌุงุฑุญุฉ ุฌูู

36. Were the unlawful banned from Euphrates' pool
While the rightly guided know it as their Eden's font?

37. By my soul! The Prophet's sons and honor
Are my soul and honor for I am their thankful slave.

38. Would that my neck had been struck instead of yours my Master
For none like you can ever withstand war's flash flood.

39. Woe unto those who formed ranks against you
Misled by malice and deceit's wicked hand.

40. If they ruined your world O jewel of humanity
They are surely astray while yours is the reward.

41. Against whom did their horses charge?
The son of the one who was known for his striking hand at Badr!

42. The fearless warrior, seasoned fighter
With intrepid raids and attacks that nothing could deter.

ุนููู ุงุจู ุงูููุฐู ูู ุงูุญูุฑุจ ุชูุนุฑูู ุจูุฏุฑ
43. And were it not for destiny pulling at its reins
Yazid's fear and trembling would have been much greater.

ูููู ุงูุบุงุฑุฉ ุงูุดูุนูุงุก ููุงููุชูุฉ ุงูุจูุฑ
44. Hussein, Hussein, he came beseeching you humbly
From an era whose fangs and claws seek to maim.

ููุงุฏูุฑ ุฌูุฑูุช ุจูุนูุงููุง
ููุบุงูู ููุฒูุฏ ุงูุฑุนุจ ููุงููุทุฑ ุงูุดู

45. And at daybreak, O people of the Prophet, he stood at your door
While rivers of tears flowed from his every cheek.

ูุฏููุฑ ุจููู ู
ูู ูุชูู ุงููุงุจ ููุงูุธูุฑ
46. Rise to help him, grant him sanctuary,
Be his reinforcement, his aid is in dire need.
ูคูฆ. ููุฃูุตุจูุญ ูุง ุขู ุงูุฑูุณูู ุจูุจุงุจูู
ููุฃูุฏู
ุนู ูู ููู ุฎูุฏ ูููุง ูููุฑ
47. By the station of your grandfather who was prayed upon and peace granted,
May the Merciful be pleased with you at dawn's first light.

48. And by his noble companions whom He was pleased with,
They were sturdy men made of stone.
