1. The moon of Al-Zawraa has set in the horizon of glory
Oh, my eyes overflow not with tears

2. The horse of victory grew weary when its time came
It had long surpassed the racers in its quest

3. Yes, the Yemeni sword sang when it saw
The swords of the sublime were sheathed so it sheathed itself

4. Black calamities befell people suddenly
So they went astray, unable to discern right from wrong

5. And a momentous misfortune, shocking to the mind, has come upon us
Without promise or expectation

6. Oh eyes of existence weep with sighs
Over the departed glory treading the paths of glory

7. Nay, by God weep not but for him
For he is the unmatched master of knowledge

8. Alas, time will not bring the likes of him again
How can gems be compared to solid rock?

9. The abode of peace was darkened by his loss
And kinship therein was scattered apart

10. A man who was mercy to people in manners
His fingers dispense and his actions guide

11. Noble, pure in lineage, vast
In generosity, charming in friendship to guests

12. A raincloud of righteousness poured upon the land
Extended clouds of kindness upon the creation

13. And included them in his grace so they became
Girded by the rope of his patronage

14. Abdullah, I will weep for you, O bereft one
Whose loss is greatest and who was the necklace's link

15. He has an exalted name and lasting fame
Which will keep him in the dress of praise and eulogy

16. I will weep for those virtues, for to me
They are sweeter than honey to remember

17. I will weep for your sublime character though the world
And darkness of my eyes will destroy me

18. Alas, I will weep for none but you in this world
While you are the light of my eye and its delight

19. Let my eyelids flow with tears for the one
Who comprised the nobility of this world and went to eternity

20. And look at no one but him for he
Is the light of sights and cure for dimmed vision

21. See no rain but him for he
Is the sea that quenches those who come to him and turns none away

22. Let my eyelids flow with tears for the unique one
Whose fingers dispense generosity and favour

23. And see no individual but him for he
Is the pouring rain of old

24. Let my eyelids flow with tears, for they
Are calamities that have befallen both free and bound

25. And do not see this passion, for its sun
Has set from sights in the darkness of the grave

26. Let my eyelids flow with tears, for they
Are the shards of my heart torn asunder by passion

27. See neither wet nor dry in the universe
For your state is as mine and your flowers as my flowers

28. No era touched by God was struck
By the arrows of death intentionally

29. Except a messenger informing me of the generous deeds
Of his family, may Allah perpetuate their lives from progeny

30. Suleiman eye of glory, nay heart of sublimity
Successor of that father, lion and flower

31. And Sultan, guardian beloved to every heart
In intimacy and distance

32. And my master crown of the wise, Mohammed
And Abdulaziz the purified, fruit of praise

33. And the youngest among them, Abdulghani and Ahmed
Noble, good of father and grandfather

34. And by your right, if gazelle, wild ostrich
Indian sword and Yemeni blade were to meet

35. We would treat them harshly, with zeal
Melting deaf knights with fire

36. But fate goes its own way
So patience for the decree of the One, Eternal, Matchless

37. You have journeyed and patience has accompanied your travels
The heart of glory has been afflicted after you

38. And the suns of virtue have disappeared
Changing into a robe of gloom and darkened mourning

39. Peace upon those faces, for they are
Lamps of virtue, nay sources of fortune

40. Peace upon those gatherings, for they are
Gardens of sublimity - yes, gardens of eternity

41. Will we forget them? No, by Him who created life
And sent down rain with lightning and thunder

42. Until kinship returns purified
And that quarter flourishes with plants and flowers

43. And the sun of virtue appears again
Across the horizons by diffusion and extension

44. Then I will delight existence with my gaze
And cleanse its depths of the rust of sadness

45. And spite the detractors with my footsteps
And drag my train despite them

46. Days will reunite us, and Allah is able
To return what He wills just as He originated

47. This world is no eternal abode
But lifetimes are delineated by spans

48. So patience, for you are people of all virtue
And a house of righteousness created from the clay of guidance

49. If a star among you has disappeared, you are
Stars of virtue in processions of glory

50. One is not dead whose remnants are like you
And no star has faded whose guiding light you are

51. May the Merciful not separate your kinship
Or remind me of the rift of your absence

52. And may Al-Zawraa never be devoid of you
For by your lights in the darkness of night it is guided
