1. Blessed are those mounts on the day of their delight,
For victory accompanied them and pride gave them life.

2. Good tidings to them from mounts that marched forth blithely,
Yearning outpaced them and good fortune met them.

3. They surmount the undulating terrain and cut through it
As though above the summit of glory was their track.

4. Leave them be, for great yearning has melted them
And the burden has weighed them down and fervor weakened them.

5. They cannot rest or turn aside to meadow
Until sated by the basin of affection’s draft.

6. Nor incline toward the abode of rest
Until, at the Nile’s gate, they cast down the burdens of their gear.

7. The secret of the message – the House of Knowledge – of which they glory
With its glory exalted the high and raised its esteem.

8. Imams who elevated their worth so highly
That Quraysh and the elite rose over their peers.

9. Absolved of all impurity, their precinct
Is guarded, and the God of the Throne made it pure.

10. Refined are their beings, magnificent their virtues
Of piety and bounty - lofty stations they secured.

11. Their mother is a spring whose seeking youths they nourished
And honored with abundant, copious largesse.

12. Through their sublime, peerless merit they attained
Abodes of might - exalted seats and lofty place.

13. For one who seeks refuge in them from every calamity
A fortress, if the tyrant stirs and wreaks his rage.

14. Through you the Family of Zahra survived, for you
Are Noah's ship on the day the waves raged.

15. With solemn zeal you barred the way to each vainglorious one,
So who, by your solemn zeal, is best of all men? You!

16. You are the elite of the world and its stars,
The peak of glory, its base and its heights.

17. Solemn zeal is best for all and Fatima the Mother
Is best among women, of pure and noble traits.

18. And who can compare with you, House of Haydara,
And Haydar who lies in his Master's precinct?

19. He is the martyr true, and martyrdom justly prides itself
On what it attained through him and its outcome.

20. In knowledge and forbearance he surpassed the noble ones in piety
And grasped the frontrunners' reins in both respects.

21. He is the quintessence of perfection and treasure of mystery,
The basin of might - most lofty of goals and most high.

22. The yoke has tightened; there is no hoard nor friend to aid me,
And how many sins that I dread have I!

23. But for you the heart has found no refuge,
And but for you the soul no deliverance.

24. I called upon the Prince of Martyrs whilst tears flowed,
And the Prophet's darling - how oft I sensed his fragrance!

25. O son of Ghadhaf, the lofty of Mudhar's line,
My sins have melted me - severe though I repent them.

26. I came to you bankrupt, seeking your expansive precinct,
A pauper hoping your hands of giving will extend to him.

27. And Uncle Ja'far deserved virtue when
The highest of stations through him were perfected.

28. If all people's riches were grasped in his fist
As yellow and white for God's sake he'd expend them.

29. Or if all people's lands were in his hand,
Both land and sea and all that's within them he'd grant away.

30. One like him - and his father was Ali
And grandsire the Master of all and its Guardian.

31. O son of the Pure, the fierce Lion, who against
The foe's onslaught with lofty deeds contended!

32. He is the Warrior, but his rain poured down,
Grief flooded the world so he gave it life.

33. He is the cloud within which lies rain
Whose lightning bolts the unbelievers struck down.

34. As though they were red camels startled from their enclosures
And the Chosen One repelled them, compelling their return.

35. His blade that year wielded at them - and for him
How many sharp swords from his peers did drink!

36. The City of Knowledge - its gate he became and contained
Of virtues the finest and most majestic.

37. And when the Muslims were tried, he sacrificed
At Khaybar's gate such merit as he perfected.

38. When the moment came and victory's grip was in his hand
Like a lion, he struck with his right and his left.

39. He soared like the swooping falcon, and it lay ravaged
Like the quarry of a bird of prey made its home.

40. It suffices him to pride himself on early Islam
And that he was its stalwart prop.

41. And the embers of unbelief he quenched and extinguished
And the confederates of polytheism he vanquished and obliterated.

42. Upon him the purest greeting of God, for as long as
My dove and the doves of Ayk shall sing his praise,

43. And the spirit of God eternally where the dove of Ayk
And my dove lament for him and call his name.
