1. Praise be to Allah in the morn and eve
For the succession of blessings and grace

2. Praise be to Allah, a praise that illuminates
The darkness of ignorance, doubt, and temptation

3. Praise be to Allah, a praise I seek refuge in
On the Day of Resurrection, from the Fire’s blaze

4. Then prayer upon the Light that sparked forth
Among lights and illumination

5. Of pure origin, from the best mother and father
Even to Adam when he was downcast and Eve

6. And the source of mystery and revelation that opened up
With his mission, every harm with good

7. The best of prophets, the purest and most patient of heart
In every tribulation and trial

8. His white radiant law overflowed
Like rain, pouring streams over the plain

9. After him, his companions upheld it
And it became for them an inherited duty

10. They built it with resolute swords
By God, between determination and steadfastness

11. Ascetics by night, when war stirred
Vanguards of light and brilliance set forth from them

12. By God, those white faces – what their swords wrought
When they clashed with the enemies

13. Ask Musaylimah the liar, what he found
Their steeds to be: equals in valorous deed

14. And how they charged at Yarmouk and spread
Through the land of Persia and halted at Taima’s palace

15. Loyalty never parted from its companion
Who became like a lion between resolve and execution

16. And no group ever parted from their pioneering Farooq
Except by good management and counsel

17. He who has two lights enlightened their state
And the Chosen One left no sickness in religion

18. All of them stars by which people are guided
To paths of guidance and contentment

19. And after them came a people by whom
The Law returned to the near and the distant

20. They did not oppose them, but clarified subtleties
And by their guidance illuminated every darkness

21. Like the noble al-Sanusi who propagated
His words amid instruction and jurisprudence

22. And Malik who walked the straight path
Through what his Muwatta displayed in every land

23. And al-Shafi’i, the Prophet’s cousin, for him
There are signposts in guidance for the keen observer

24. And Ahmad, guardian of the Law, patient
In his tribulation - oh what a fine trial!

25. By their status, and the status of those who tread
Their methodology, heal, O Lord of Majesty, my affliction

26. The people of spiritual paths who through God connected
Upon degrees of virtue and blessing

27. Like al-Adl whose merits transcended
Enumeration and counting

28. The cave of disciples, Badr al-Din our master
Muhammad, embodiment of the best names

29. His noble path, supported
By stations of sanctification and tidings

30. From our unique master Abdullah, through whom
The heights were concluded, so he became the final dot

31. Al-Aydarusi the Gnostic, whose banners
Spread for sincere disciples

32. From his master Jum’ah the Protector who gathered
Merits publicly and in secret

33. And he was from my master Yaqub, taking from him,
From Jum’ah the Elder
