When the sea of turmoil rages, my steadfast ships are my Tawhid,

Tell the son of Yahya, let him be aware
يا نجل أحمد حياك الإله ولا

جمال الجلال وفرد الكمال

The peerless one of the age in perfections and manners
إن اللقا أفضل إن كان في
Meeting is best when it's for learning
أيا رب هل من نصرة لشريعة
O Lord, is there no aid for the Law

Pastures of mansions blended with darkness

If God is pleased with His servant
إن لله في العباد رجالا
Indeed God has among His servants men
هوت العقيق وما هوت فكأنها
The carnelian fell, though it seemed as if
علي لله عهد لا يكدره
I have a covenant with God that no falcon disturbs,
هب الناس قالوا باتفاق بأنني
People have unanimously said that I
أما ترى تعز في الليل غدا
Do you not see Ta'izz at night rising
أجزتك أيها المولى بما في
I have granted you, O master, what is in my narrations
يا مفردا في الكمال أضحى
O you unmatched in perfection, you've attained
أنا المذنب الجاني على حالة
I am the sinner, the criminal in a state,
فالعطف لم يأت في إضمار تابعه

The soul and Satan are blameless
أجزتك في فنون العلم طرا
I have certified you in the sciences, flying high,
يا ناظم الدرر البهية أشرقت
O composer of radiant pearls, your talent has shone
صغت الدراري أم عقد من الدرر
Were you molded from gems or a string of pearls?
من دونها يا عمر وخز الرماح
Without her, O life, there is but sorrow and the sting of spears,
هب أن بدر التم يوما يأفل
Grant the full moon's light may some day fade,

They took knowledge from me with humility,

It was neither for food nor clothes that I came to him,

محمد أيها المسكين أقصر

يجاهرني العدو بكل نكر
The enemy rebukes me with every insult,

She came to me from the most noble abode

I have never felt worse about anything,

May God protect your highness

So let the derision of the exalted and the worlds be thus,

يا نيري فلك العلياء قد طلعت

من رام في الدنيا رضاء العالم

لا تنكروني إن ثملت فللهوى
وما عليك إذا لم يرتضوا عملا
رب قد عودتني كشف كل المعضلات
تهدم من ربع المعارف جانبه
في حاديات الليالي للفتى عجب
يا سيدا سودته المكرمات كما
يا بن الأولى في شانهم
يا إمام الأنام قد ضجر الناس

أطيب الطيبات علم يريك
اطلع علينا مثل شمس الضحى
