1. The eyelids of knowledge weep from your absence
And the sweet from it after your remoteness becomes salty
١. جَفْنُ المعارِفِ مِنْ فِراقِكَ سَافِحُ
والْعَذْبُ مِنْها بَعْدَ بُعْدِكَ مالِحُ
2. Where is knowledge and how has the earth covered it
And ragged clothes and clear winds have come upon it
٢. أَينَ الْعُلُومُ وكَيْفَ وَارَاها الثَّرىَ
وَغَدا عَلَيْها جَنْدَلٌ وصَفَائِحُ
3. O you who tread the paths of humility reverently
The face of time for your absence is faded
٣. يا سَالِكاً سُبُلَ التَّواضُعِ خاشِعاً
وَجْهُ الزَّمانِ لِفَقْدِ وَجْهِك كالِحُ
