1. They said so-and-so, give him his due
For he is from the Prophet's noble breed
١. قَالُوا فُلانٌ عظِّمُوا حَقَّهُ
فإنَّهُ مِنْ عُتْرَةِ المصْطَفَى
2. But I said, truth owes nothing to kin
In the eyes of one like me, indeed
٢. فَقُلْتَ للقُرْبى منَ الْحَقِّ ما
لا يَعْتَريه عنْدَ مِثْلي خَفَا
3. Yet so-and-so, his palms did knead
The radiant Sunnah into misdeed
٣. لَكِنْ فُلانٌ تَرِبَتْ كَفُّهُ
لِلسُّنّةِ الْغَرّاءِ أَبْدَى الْجَفا
4. And in rejecting he did proceed
To find in religion his darkest need
٤. وَصَارَ في الرَّفْضِ لَهُ مَذْهَبٌ
كانَ بِهِ في دِينهِ مِنْ شفا
5. So part of truth is owed by all
Who walk the path of guidance, as we heed
٥. فَبُعْضُهُ حَقٌّ عَلَى كُلِّ مَنْ
يَكُونُ في نَهْجِ الْهُدَى مُنْصِفا
6. Kinship will not avail a son
Who shuns his father's faith with shameful greed
٦. لا تنفعُ الْقُرْبةُ اِبناً أبى
دِينَ أَبِيهِ عِنْدَ أَهْلِ الْوَفا
7. And how many made high were cast down low
By what trails behind their worldly steed
٧. وَكَمْ منَ الأَدْنَيْنَ أَدْناهُمُ
إلَى الدَّنايَا بَعْضُ ما تَخَلّفا
8. His uncle is shamed as he did show
Hate for the faith that is purest creed
٨. فَعَمُّهُ قَدْ عَمَّهُ الْخِزْيُ إذْ
عَادَى الذي مَنْ دِينُهُ قَدْ صَفا
