1. He who appeared as eloquence personified
After praising the All-Pervading, the Bestower

2. Indeed, mentioning God first in prose
Then the Messenger, cannot be faulted

3. And generalities have provided us with
Clarifying doubts and suspicions

4. The generality of speech, whether presently
Or in time, is intrinsic to speech

5. So one claiming exclusivity must
Clarify through proper etiquette

6. And one who permits in the abode of prohibition
That which deviates from the righteous path

7. Has prepared contradictions from every aspect
And revealed rejection in every matter
