1. I have wondered, though there is nothing in this world to wonder about,
For its nature needs no wondering.
١. لَقَدْ عَجِبْتُ ومَا في الدَّهْرِ مِنْ عَجَبِ
فَشَأْنُهُ غَيْرُ مُحْتاج إِلى الْعَجَبِ
2. But when the causes of an event are hidden,
Wonder may be attributed to those causes.
٢. لَكِنْ إذا خَفِيَتْ أسْبابُ حادِثَةٍ
كانَ التَّعَجُّبُ مَحْمولاً على السَّبَبِ
