1. Why does he feel depressed tomorrow,
When he has attained a status worth mentioning?

2. And every fortune of his fellow men
Seems paltry compared to his own lot.

3. In knowledge, his compositions
Have become well-known among the righteous.

4. Among the people, his word holds sway
To forbid or command as he wills.

5. God has provided him ample sustenance
And protected him from all that is disapproved.

6. So praise and thanks to his Creator!
Yet he is the lowliest of those who give thanks.
