1. If in your world and religion you follow
The guidance of the seal of prophets, Muhammad

2. And treat your noble Master according to what came
In the Revelation or what is authentic from every tradition

3. And you hold an opinion contradicted by a narration
Openly and pay no heed to the words of the faultfinder

4. Then you are upon the clear truth even if
Every ignorant, stubborn person rejects your words

5. If not for three things, I would not fear my demise
It is not as the young man said

6. That I champion monotheism and justice everywhere
Exerting myself

7. That I converse with God, delighting
In a retreat sweeter than honey

8. And that I face the days growing old against
Every despicable, ashen-faced villain
