1. The mention of her brings solace to my troubled heart,
And the closest love, if your call be true, kills.

2. By your life, O beauty of beauty! I am, because of your distance,
Misery-laden, while tears flow.

3. He who loves one like Hind, will indeed see
The fulfillment of all he hopes.

4. When the beloved surpasses the lover in beauty,
How can there be patience? Where is grace?

5. A man whose passion has lasted long,
And who is past fifty, blamed and censured,

6. If the censurers but look on his beloved's face,
Their censure itself is excused.

7. Abu Ahmad! Will God join us
On the meadows of al-Liwa? God does what He wills.

8. My soul has told me our meeting is near,
And in God is hope and reliance.

9. Remember the poem I sent you before
Containing counsel and words.

10. Greet the builder of the seven-tiered house, and the one who
Spread the lands by uniting. Unity is best.

11. Despair not of union after the distance prolonged between us.
Hope from you is more befitting.

12. Live in peace, O peerless one of Muhammad's line,
And forget me not, for a prayer from you is answered.
