Beyond paltry things that wither
١. إنَّ لي نَفْساً تَسَامى
عَنْ قَليلٍ تَتَلاشَى
2. For life is but for one
Whose bed is made by fate
٢. إنّما العَيْشُ لِشَخْصٍ
رَاشَهُ الدَّهْرُ فَراشَا
3. And if he gains a song
Others gain sustenance
٣. وإذا نالَ غناءً
نالَهُ الغَيْرُ مَعاشا
