أبدعني الناصر ابن نصر
The creator endowed me, al-Nasir son of Nasr
مالي وللورد وبحر الندى
Roses and dew's ocean are mine
أنا زهر إذ تشرف
I am a flower when you look
لولا الحياء من ابن نصر لم أجز
Were it not for my shyness before Ibn Nasr, I would not have withheld
وقالوا صف لنا شهب الدياجي
They said, "Describe for us the meteors of Diyaji
وشهب أشبهت حلقات درع
Roses of the garden
أيها الناظم صف شهب الدجى
O composer, describe the radiance of the night
كأن الزهر في أفق الدياجي
As if flowers on the horizon of mist
هذي الكواكب قابلتك سعودها
These planets have met you, rising in glory
ما للركائب لا تحل حلالها
Why do the riders not stay to enjoy its hospitality,
هنيئا هنيئا إمام الهدى
Congratulations, congratulations to the Imam of guidance
جفون بها ما إن يلم رقادها
Her eyelids, when slumber visits them
هي الهضبة الشماء باد وقارها
It is the lofty plateau, dignified in its stillness
ألا حدثاني باللقا يا خليليا
My two friends, tell me about meeting, oh my two companions
سل البان عنها أين بانت ركابها
Ask the caravan where it departed from
لله مني مصنع يجتلى
For Allah I have a workshop being refined
يا عجبا لمن غدا
O wonder, for he who has become
بحلا يوسف وغر صفاتي
With beauty like Joseph's and charm of character
رأي الخليفة يوسف
The Caliph Yusuf's Opinion
سل بالغميم معاهدا لم أنسها
Send my greetings, though I have not forgotten them, to those days of being in touch which restored its intimacy.
أثار هواها نزعا تشتكي الوجا
Her passion stirred a yearning to complain of separation
أمن بارق أعلام نجد يصافح
Stars of Najd's banners glimmer at dawn
مقامك للقصاد كهف وملجأ
Your abode is a cave and refuge for the weary
هي الديار فما تبدو بواديها
It is the abode, so its valleys do not appear
قف بالركائب ساعة واستوقف
Stand awhile at the ruins, and stop by
هناء كأزهار الربى متحمل
Delight like the flowers of the meadows laden,
قلبي كلف بظبية حسناء
My heart is burdened with love for a beautiful gazelle
عسى الطيف في جنح الدجى إذ يعوده
May the specter in the wings of night when it returns
يا وحيد الندى وقطب المعالي
O lone splendor and polestar of glories
لمن أوجه غر تروق سماتها
For whom is the radiant beauty whose traits shine
مولى الملوك بمغرب وبمشرق
The king of kings gifted me in the west and east
أيا شريف المنتمى والذي
O noblest of pedigree and he
أيا شريفا قد نأت داره
O noble one whose abode we've reached
خليلي هل أبصرتما عاشقا مثلي
My friends, have you ever seen a lover like me
فؤادي على حكم الغرام خفوق
My heart flutters under love's control
أراحت فؤادا لديها مشوقا
She put at ease a heart that longed for her
تهادت قبيل الصبح والركب نوم
Before dawn, the caravan rested,
لمن الركائب نحو رامة ترتمي
To whom are the ships sailing towards Ramah
هنيئا هي الآمال حيت بنجحها
Congratulations, here are the hopes that have been fulfilled by their success,
أناصر دين الله هنئته صنعا
You supported the religion of Allah, you were congratulated for your good deed
هنيئا فقد وافت إليك البشائر
Congratulations, good tidings have come to you
مولاي بشرى بالزمان المقبل
My Master, good tidings of the forthcoming time
لك الهدي تجلوه العزائم مشرقا
You are guided to glory, upheld by resolute determination
أخطب هوى بالنيرات من العلا
A message of love from the highlands is brought
بحبك لي اعتلاق واعتلاء
With your love I am exalted and sublime
بشرى بعيد أتى والنصر يقدمه
Good tidings of a distant victory draw near,
أنا للحسن مرقب مشهور
I am known for my love of beauty,
ألا بأبي شمعة تزهر
Indeed, by my father Shama'ah a blossoming candle
الورد من شأني ولكنني
The rose is my wont, but I
سقى الغيث يوم النوى تربه
The rain watered the land of al-Nuway on the day of grief
أأبا علي صف لنا الشهب التي
O Abu Ali, describe for us the comets
يريك التباشير التي قد تألقت
He shows you the ornaments that have shone
شمس العشية آذنت بغروبها
The evening sun foretold its setting
طلعت نجما في سماء اليد
I shine as a star in the sky of generosity
معالم الدولة النصرية اتضحت
The pillars of the victorious state became clear
يا طلعة رائقة المجتلى
O radiant vision of beauty
ومعلم الثوب يروق النهى
The teacher's robe allures abstinence
ما لي إذا هب عليل الرياح
What is wrong if the morning breeze relates the tales of my passion so very clearly
مملوك نعمتك التي
Slave of Your blessing which
هو الهدي يروى إذ تجلى فحياكا
It is the guidance that is watered when you appeared, so I greet you
وظبية إنس ليس يرجى وصالها
A gazelle's love cannot be hoped for
إنما الشعر رغبة وسؤال
Poetry is but a yearning and a question
محياك يهدي فجره المتوضح
Your morning glow guides, radiant and hopeful,
ببدائع الحسن التي
With the marvels of beauty that
أبدع حسني يوسف
Yusuf's beauty was revealed
جود ابن نصر يوسف
The generosity of Ibn Nasr Yusuf
هو النصر قد أجرى لديك جياده
Victory has brought its steeds to you,
خليلي هذي نجوم الدجى
My darling, these are the stars of dusk
إليك تباشير البشائر مقبله
To you come tidings of good news glittering,
هنيئا فصنع الله وافاك بالبشرى
Congratulations, for God's work has granted you good tidings,
حاديها أين بها تذهب
Where is she heading, when the path to love's roses leads nowhere?
ألا بأبي شمعة قد حكت
By my father's life, a candle has described
ولله مني شمعة لاح نورها
For God I have a candle whose light shone bright
لئن أصبحت كف مولاي أفقا
If the palm of my master has become a horizon,
كواكب عز في ذراك حلولها
The stars of glory shine in your surroundings,
هذي سعودك قد حيت طوالعها
This is your dawn whose horizons have risen
أمولاي إن العبد قد زاد عنده خديم
My Master, truly your servant's blessings have increased
مولاي يا أعلى الورى منزله
My Master, the Highest of the High Abode
أحسن به من قناع
With a veil finer than his face
أما تبصر الظلماء قد فغرت فما
Do you not see the dark night has opened its mouth wide?
أترى الخل إذ نأى أوصى بي
Did the departed friend when he left recommend me,
حكيت سنا الأفق في بهجتي
I told the horizon's splendor in my delight
فقت حسنا وبهجة وجمالا
I lost beauty, joy, and grace
لله مني ثوب
My robe for God displays
تصيب سهامي نحور العدى
My arrows strike the enemy's throat
لله مني مصنع
My Lord, I am made for You
أذكر مولانا ولم ينس عبده
I remind my Master, though His servant did not forget,
ألا يا مشوقا يمم الربع والمغنى
Oh you who yearns to visit this land and its beauty
جاد الغمام ربى نجد وحياها
The clouds rained down on the pastures of Najd and gave it life
نسيم الصبا راع الصبابة وفده
The morning breeze blowing the youths of dawn,
ثناؤك ما هب للناسم
Your praise is not for boastful people,
ألا ليت شعري أي نعماك أشكر
Oh, if only I knew which of Your blessings to thank
مهلا فإن سهام العين حين رمت
Slow down, for when the arrows of the eyes missed their mark
أمولاي إن العبد قد زاد عنده
My Master, the servant has exceeded in his esteem
هنيئا بصنع نحوه النصر قد خطا
Congratulations on an achievement towards which victory strides,
سل ركاب الحمى غداة استقلت
Ask the riders of fever at dawn when they departed,
إن التي شغف الفؤاد هواها
She whose love has captivated my heart
صرف الوجد نحو قلبي عنانه
Passion turned its reins towards my heart
وخضرة الزمرد المنتقى
The chosen emerald green
نفرت نومك الظباء الأوانس
The does startled your slumber, charming playmates,
تجلى صباح الفتح من جبل الفتح
The dawn of victory shone from Victory Mount
بعلاك صدقت الملوك رجاءها
Your ascendance, kings have believed in your hopes,
بشرى بوعد لنصر الدين مرقوب
Good tidings of support for the religion are assured
أحبابنا هل لنا بعد النوى طمع
Our loved ones, is there still hope after our resolve
يا إماما أبدى الهداية شمسا
O Imam who has shown guidance as a shining sun
بيوسف ناصر دين الهدى
With Joseph the champion of righteous guidance
هنيئا به من عالم الكون وافدا
Welcome to this world traveler
ناصر الدين خذ إليك بشاره
O Nasir al-Din, receive good tidings,
لله مني ثوب عجيب
A wondrous garment I am for God
لك في المكارم يا أبا العباس
You, Abu al-Abbas, have traces of kindness,
مرت بربعي للندى غاديه
She passed by my dwellings heading for the dew,
أصوب الحيا جاد أم دمع عيني
Is the best of life earnest or a tear from my eye?
مجرة الأفق نهر
The horizon's galaxy is a river
هل بعد طول تغربي وفراقي
After so long away, so far,
أهل بالروض سرب الطائر الغرد
The warbling birds greeted the garden
فتاة بربعي رحلها سحرا حطا
A girl with a charming gait like magic at dawn
حدث عن الطلل المحيل
Speak of the ruins after the departure,
عزاء فإن الخطب قد جل موقعا
Solace, for tribulations are undoubtedly severe
زرقة لوني قد بدت
My blue color has appeared
بدور بأفق الملك راق طلوعها
Buds at the horizon of the kingdom, radiant is their rise,
هدى تتجلى من سناه المشارق
Guidance manifests from his shining easts
تحييك من شهب الجياد طلائع
I greet you with the meteors of steeds as vanguards,
هناء كعرف الزهر للمتنسم
A delight like the scent for one who inhales,
يوسف الأملاك قد أبدعني
Yusuf created me, the fairest
أنا عبد مولاي الخليفة يوسف
I am the servant of my master the Caliph Yusuf
عجبا أيبدعني الخليفة يوسف
How amazing that Khalifah Yusuf inspires me
أهلا بها بكرا أتت عذراء
Welcome, oh maiden who came as a bright dawn
هلا غدا وصله مباحا
If only union with him would become permitted
وما أنا أهدي إمام الهدى
I do not guide the imam of guidance,
أصبح القلب بالبعاد عليلا
My heart grew ill from being far away
هل الأفق تبدو في مطالعه الزهر
Does the horizon in its rising seem to blossom,
أحرزت من كل وصف رائق حسن
I have attained every fine and pleasant description,
طيفها حين طرق
Her apparition when it knocked,
بدر بقبتك الغراء مطلعه
The full moon rises in your luminous dome,
يا ناصر الإسلام يا ملك الهدى
O supporter of Islam, O king of guidance
ما لقلبي يصبو ودمعي يصوب
Why does my heart yearn as my tears flow down
أمنها سرى طيف إلي حبيب
From it came a phantom of my beloved to me
وما كنت أهوى ربع سلمى وإنما
I loved not the gardens of Salma, but rather
لا تنكروا الشعر على خده
Do not deny poetry on his cheek
دع المصباح وانظر يا نديمي
My friend, leave the lamp and behold
هنئت يا مولى الورى مقدما
You are welcomed, O Master of all,
زمان وصاله هلا يعود
When will the time of his union return,
هي العلى دوني منهاجها
She is the most high, her way above me,
هنيئا بها طوع السعادة وافده
Welcome to her, obedience has brought her happiness,
ألم بمولانا الخليفة يوسف
Pain for our Caliph Yusuf
يمينا لقد جاز الأسى منتهى الحد
Alas! Grief has reached its utmost limit,
بما أثني على تلك المثابه
With what praise I extol that sublime one
بناصر الدين مولى الخلق لي شرف
With the defender of the faith, patron of mankind, I have honor
أنا أسمى في الحسن قدرا وأعلا
يوسف أبدعني
إن غلقت طيقان قبتي التي
ما بال شهب الظلام حاكية
لله أسفارنا مازلت أحسبها
سرنا إلى الغرب حيث الشهب مائلة
أنا مورد ما سد بابي دون من
هذي الخلافة قد ملكت قيادها
هنيئا به يا ناصر الدين موسما
هي الأشياء مبدعها
أجلها في أباطحها جيادا
سمعا فقد نطق اللسان المفصح
ما للمدامع فوق الخد تنسكب
بشرى بمقدمها الإسلام يبتهج
أمن بارق في الدجى أومضا
حفت ملائكة السماء جنودا
أنا والمولى ابن نصر يوسف
يا عجبا ليوسف يهتدي
كف مولاي سحاب المعتفي
أشبهت قوس السماء حسنا
ومجلس أنس راق خبرا ومخبرا
حللت كما أبغي بأسعد منزل
أهلا بقطعة شعر راق منظرها
ألا حيها في حيها أوجها غرا
سمعا فإن عددت أوصاف مجدكم
أيا رحمة الله فوق العباد
وصلتني تحفة
فيا عذول صباباتي ألا زمن
عهود غرامي لا تزال جديدة
أنا قناع لي
يا معجبا بصفاتي
أنا ثوب أجتلى
من كل فذ ماجد ألفاظه
هو النصر لا وان ولا متماكث
لعمرك ما يثني الركاب تربص
هنيئا لدين الهدى الأشرف
أمولاي الذي فاقت يداه
ما للسرى دعت الركاب حثيثها
