1. It is the lofty plateau, dignified in its stillness
Its sanctity is protected by its night and day

2. It has learned from the vicissitudes of fate to be wary
Waiting for the day of recompense that is its due

3. The passage of ages has not worn it down with decay
Nor have tempests disturbed the tranquility of its pastures

4. Save that plateaus stand out from it
Its white buildings making its youth evergreen

5. The patron of kings, the righteous Yusuf
Whose generosity makes oceans seem but a handful

6. Humbled himself before Great God in establishing it
Its lofty citadels touching the sky

7. He built it on piety and godliness
Humiliating the enemies despite their rage

8. And laid its foundations with generous hands
Its clouds of bounty pouring down on the destitute

9. And he protected its territory where
Stones are passed from hand to hand against the foe

10. Beautifully situated above the meadows as though
Goblets of wine circulated by the hands of servers

11. And around it marched brigades
With God's faithful gaining triumph through it

12. Brigades of glory, attacking and defending
Routing the ignorant enemy in their pride

13. They have mounted the necks of the brigades and climbed
Though narrow and steep be its road and passage

14. When their fires lit up the darkness
At the wings of the bombers

15. You have protected its sanctity like lions and mountain goats
Brandishing their swords on high

16. And by spending you have gained merit and prestige
So many full moons turn towards it

17. And your servants have toured it
Revealing excellent workmanship

18. They circle around it for security and prosperity like Kaaba
To which pilgrims throng for Hajj and Umrah

19. And from its summits they throw stones lastly
As though the throngs were completing the Stoning of the Jamarat

20. In its gunpowder mines is the greatest miracle
To which consideration of consequences gives way

21. You have erected for oil its towers
Rivalling the walls of mighty citadels

22. And God has provided through it arms
When the desert is in need of supplies

23. It is neighbored by the lofty building
With the Glory of the Creator its venerable neighbor

24. Showing you in darkness the crescent of ohm
Through which the crescent of enemies is eclipsed

25. You have built with it a march whose distances
Seem to span abandoned homelands

26. Brandishing over it your sword of resolve
To kill or capture all in its midst

27. You have established them like two horsemen
And the devils of misguidance took flight

28. And in your presence, my Lord, is an apology
For falling short in their description

29. For my thoughts cannot fully capture
