1. You, Abu al-Abbas, have traces of kindness,
Not leaving any weakness untouched.
١. لكَ في المَكارِمِ يا أبا العبّاسِ
آثارُ برٍّ لمْ تَدَعْ مِن باسِ
2. And the most righteous in taste is what became
A lasting cure for people.
٢. وأبَرُّ طعْماً ما حَلا ذوْقاً وما
أضْحى شِفاءً دائماً للنّاسِ
3. And with you there is much of it, so send
The fine varieties and kinds.
٣. ولَديْكُمُ منهُ كَثيرٌ فابْعَثوا
بالرّائِقِ الألْوانِ والأجْناسِ
4. And leave the upside down for the little old lady
Who has become accustomed to you after a long blindness.
٤. ولْتَترُكوا مَقْلوبَهُ لغريرةٍ
ألِفَتْكُمُ منْ بعدِ طولِ شِماسِ
5. Her father is consoled by the one you resembled
In description without any doubt or ambiguity.
٥. يُعزى أبوها للذي أشْبَهْتَهُ
وصفاً بلا شكٍّ ولا إلباسِ
6. So you have become accustomed to all kinds of sweetness
In both eating and marriage.
٦. فألِفْتَ أنواعَ الحلاوةِ دائِماً
في الحالَتينِ الأكْلِ والإعْراسِ
7. This is what your highness has required of you
Of righteousness and intimacy.
٧. هذا ومُوجِبُهُ إليْكُم ما ارْتَضَتْ
عُلْياكَ منْ بِرٍّ ومنْ إيناسِ
