1. The rain watered the land of al-Nuway on the day of grief
While it had watered the land of al-Nada on the day of joy

2. It was a sword against the evil enemies
But the hands of fate made it go westward

3. It was a cloud that gave life to existence
And gave life, but then its pouring was prevented

4. It was a heaven for the light of guidance
But fate turned its pole to the ground

5. It was safety for the one who sought its refuge
But why did it frighten its drinking-place

6. It was a watering place for its archers
But it ended up muddying its drinking water

7. It was a source of glory for the state of the Master of Kings
Whose highness wished to have it near

8. The enemies used to fear its might
But why did the nights come against it with war

9. It hoisted a flag for guidance and dew
But it ended up shaking its hills

10. Its star fell from the heaven of highness
Lighting the earth as its grave

11. If the horizon had been just after it fell
It would not have risen shedding its meteors

12. If the rain had been just to a living protector
A youth who never stopped sending its clouds

13. Oh grave that hosts him
The morning it halted his riding

14. It is the grave that was granted the one
Who never accepted the expanse of a palace as enough

15. How far `Ali is! Do you see time
Appearing to the world showing its wonders through him

16. He was loyal to the nights but they betrayed his highness
He reproached them and they accepted his reproach

17. So ask the protected lands about `Ali when
They sought his support against the aggression

18. And they came with every difficult crisis
So he made easy what was difficult with his resolve

19. And he rectified them when they complained of insoluble problems
From calamities, seeking his healing

20. He is the kingdom whose eyelids night has put to sleep
He is the glory whose heart fate has tossed around

21. So this emirate shows lamenting
For him the morning after his star set

22. With eyes that lost his beauty
And ribs that were granted his love

23. The defender of the Imam, the resolute one who
Sufficed when a matter was difficult

24. The hand of death has snatched you from protecting
Those whom the enemies fear to raid

25. After it, only patience was relied upon
To obey God through it

26. It gave you from the rain what has narrated
The blossoms of meadows were its absence

27. So how many watering places in jihad
Did you endure thirst for its drink

28. Until you conveyed the religion of guidance
To the enemies in the battle, driving them to their burrows

29. To you belongs, God, whenever you faced them
And supported their war party in their war

30. Ask the mountain of victory about its opening
When the transgressor hoped for its conquest

31. Ask the people of jihad in Shuqura
When he unleashed his anger at its gate

32. God ordained that he attain the highest highness
And here he is, after his star has set

33. To settle him in a Garden brought near
And revealed in describing it His Books

34. So how many mercies did His grace envelop!
And how many good deeds erased his sins!
