1. A message of love from the highlands is brought,
Good tidings making the world radiant.

2. The Master of Kings fulfilled his promise,
His caravans kept marching to the place of promise.

3. His worthy son and keeper of his covenant
Inherited his forefathers’ empire and kingdom,

4. Assumed high office while still young,
Bearing responsibilities heavy to carry.

5. Though this day dawned gloomy and cloudy,
It cleared with the survivor, brightly lit.

6. If the full moonlight vanished or life withheld it,
This sea and dawn can still be extracted.

7. If the guiding star that was followed had set,
The brilliant morn has clearly emerged.

8. If the pasture withered and its plants declined,
This is the meadow that was delightful.

9. If the Nile valley’s springs were dry,
This Nile grows plants and palms aplenty.

10. If after him came a dark night,
The sun of guidance rose radiant.

11. If we were touched by affliction,
He who enhanced his light relieved it.

12. If the days were misguided from their path,
Take from him a guided course connected.

13. Does the King of Kings rightly rest below the soil,
And destiny made him drink of mortality?

14. He from whom knowledge, wisdom and piety flowed,
Who abundantly bestowed favors on us?

15. He who gracefully let down the beautiful veil,
And stretched over us a shaded pavilion?

16. If the true religion sought his support
It found in him an impregnable refuge and haven.

17. If the course of events shook the earth,
He hoisted aloft a flag above the stars unfurled.

18. If a problem grew complex and difficult,
We found him a strong and steadfast pillar.

19. O Joseph, is there still a kind glance to hope
That through you Islam gains what it yearns for?

20. If the full moon gleams and life flows easy,
His palm will be fresher and his aspect more beautiful.

21. He will attain every goal in the war against enemies,
With fate seen to ensure it.

22. I can see him unleashing horses in the fray,
Driving them to the abundant meadows to graze their fill.

23. I see him resolute on the battlefield,
Slowing a little when the horses tire.

24. I can see him eloquently addressing the brave ones,
His speech precisely differentiated and clear.

25. I see war raising up its pillars around him,
And victory laboring for him thoroughly.

26. His face appears bright and delighted whenever
He grants gifts with a joyous laugh.

27. The delegation hurry to him seeking bounty,
And return with their burdens full heavy.

28. He was generous to the people of knowledge,
So none of their works failed to be accepted.

29. He renewed the symbols of Prophet’s family,
Thereby attaining elevated eternal glory.

30. He supported the champions of jihad,
Becoming for the open land a pouring rain.

31. He cared for the common people gently,
So the pasture became lush and the plants ample.

32. He loved his loyal friends with gifts and apparel,
Quenching them at the sea of bounties mixed together.

33. They filled the assembly and the dwellings bloomed,
More beautifully than the loveliest of visions.

34. He sent out the excellent steeds racing,
Appointing a winner, adorning a second and third.

35. There they are before him, thanking for a bounty
That brought them to settle in the wished-for abode.

36. They lived the generous Imam Muhammad long,
Noble, forbearing, beneficent and generous.

37. My lord, my master, through your father may I gain
Glory touching the stars pouring down.

38. And greater care than which he maintained
Over me, recording the pact of loyalty.

39. I used to proudly drag the train of conceit,
Boasting to him of my poems - Jarir and Akhtal.

40. If souls could be ransomed, I would have rushed
To die for him - I would be the first.

41. You are his worthy son and heir to his rule,
You watered the gardens of thought and they bore fruit.

42. The pasture of my poetry was dry and barren,
You revived it after it languished wilted.

43. You granted me gifts too sublime to measure,
And clothed me in exquisite robes.

44. You garlanded me like a dove, so how not
To coo atop a branch bending luxuriant?

45. Heir of Prophet’s companions and friends
Through whom the true religion is adorned.

46. Why should I praise people the Quran already
Expounded upon in detail clear?

47. But I shape my composition as a necklace
To show you some subtle crafted pearls.

48. So persist triumphant, guided and supported,
Exalted, pleased and confident, reliant on God.

49. We are servants of the victorious King, pleased,
Your father who befriended the beautiful and excelled.

50. You are the veil that in its generous shade
Remains God’s veil spread over you.
