1. My friend, leave the lamp and behold
The sun of the goblet in the bleak night.

2. Do not forget dawn when it reveals itself,
As morning dawns upon a comely face.

3. The flowers greet you, blown in the breeze's fold,
Bearing the gifts the zephyr brings in its flight.

4. Each time a morn you hail, sound of fervor,
A fevered one is slaked by its sight.

5. Revel in it as you wish, and tell me,
Are the gardens the gardens of delight?

6. A songstress shows you true magic, lawful,
Not the accursed sorcery of spite.

7. In the garden, countless fragrant blooms,
And in verse, many a refined gem bright.

8. My friend, cease remembering what is past,
And times of grace gone in life's flight.

9. Do not let tears' covenants flow however much
You recall the departed friend in the night.

10. Do not prolong reflection, shun it,
And bring the cup from the boon companion's hand.

11. Give your grieving heart a reason, match
Your passion new with wine aged and grand.

12. For that, how many revolving among us,
Revolving around it and its demand.

13. Do not despair of hoped-for pardon,
Your Lord forgives sins, be they blight.

14. But in all affairs, rely
On what is in the Wise Remembrance's light.
