1. Welcome, oh maiden who came as a bright dawn
Illuminating upon us, radiant and fair

2. Her words make steeds race in eloquence
To the horizons of mastery and swords shine

3. I saw her at dawn, and she had come
To my abode as affection desired at night

4. I did not know a dawn could rise
With intellect, before she came to me

5. But I did not attain the bliss of her company
Until the light of morn shone and lit up

6. She excelled in composing poetry
Surpassing the beautiful gazelle in charm

7. Wait, oh Abu Al Fadl, whose merit
And affection left all people behind

8. It is not my way to blame a friend, but
To always thank and praise him

9. And if one I trusted shunned me
Repaying with forgiveness was best

10. If he treats me with disdain or aloofness
I only show him kindness and loyalty

11. So what of one who gained his affection
Purely, and extended his sincerity generously

12. I would be lying if I named him
With criticism after lengthy praise

13. Strange it's said he misspoke in his poem
When a dear friend attained what he wished

14. Whoever attributes to me words of insult
He is the one who said and misspoke them

15. My composition seeking a response at dawn was
In the spirit of friendship, not stubbornness

16. While your poetry, I never knew it as a garden
Displaying its beauty, forever renewed

17. Its features outshine all other features whenever
The melodious garden is frequented anew

18. Never hidden are its exquisite meanings
That have softened and glowed with delight and light

19. Pay no heed to those who foolishly
Speak without restraint or shame

20. For I will never cease praising your merit
And thanking your grace, my life long

21. I built the structure of affection in my heart so let
No fear of time eroding it come
