8. O full moon enveloped by soil at nightfall,
The horizon of glory used to be your place of emergence.

9. I expected the full moon to ascend the firmament,

Captives of misery, utterly devastated and torn apart.

O what pitfalls from which there is no escape!

13. Indeed Muhayyaโ€™s light shone in the sphere of loftiness,
But it has faded away and is now shrouded in dust.

14. Verily the bloom of his face was transformed by decay;
O how often he revealed beauty and created marvels!

15. They placed inside the grave the one whose lofty determination
Used to rival the rising sun, outshining it.

16. His heart and mind were indeed the centre of wisdom;
That is why layers of earth now enfold them.

17. We knew grief was the first visitor
The morning he intended to bid us farewell.

20. No body remains intact; it melts away like camphor,
No heart but to soften, languish and pine away.

21. Shall I leave Suluwwฤn now that he has gone,
When tribulations offer no avenue for hope?

22. Parting with my beautiful patience has destroyed it,
But it has left behind the tears and grief.

23. Would that I knew who would convey my greetings to him
Now that he has turned away to bid us all farewell!

24. Decay summoned him until he answered its call,
And the harbinger of death stole him away hastily.

25. He answered the summons when called the next morning,
Though the caller had often addressed him speedily.

26. He made ready to meet death, which had come visiting
And did not hesitate to climb steep precipices.

28. And hurl his spear in hot pursuit behind it!
Ask about him in Shuqลซraโ€™s clamouring din;

29. Its guardian castles have been reduced to ruins.
On the Mountain of the Two Victories how firmly resolved he was

30. To hasten in answering the summons of Divine guidance!
He will meet his Lord with the merit of his struggleโ€”

ุดูŽููŠุนุงู‹ ูƒู…ุง ูŠูุฑู’ุถูŠ ุงู„ู†ู‘ุจูŠู‘ูŽ ู…ูุดูŽูู‘ูŽุนุง

31. An intercessor approved by the Prophet pleading on his behalf.
He was most lofty in eminence, sublimest in vestiges,

32. And best in pastureโ€”until Time roused its dormant rancour
And, out of blind enmity, stripped his wards of protection,

34. So we find solace in prolonged mention if it avails,
And we find comfort in excellent patience if it suffices.

35. The stars were envious of his beauty and glanced
Up longingly towards their stellar companions.

36. With intent, the arrows of their eyes struck him,
But never missed the mark, for we found no shield.

37. We indeed rely on God the Almighty, and indeed
We hope for His mercy in the final outcome.

38. The days may have sinned in what they have brought about,
Yet for pardon, they have preserved a case.

39. For they have retained Yลซsuf, champion of the faith,
And for the faith, they have built an unassailable pillar.

40. Never did they destroy a fine quality he had perfected
To make it eternal, nor aim, for his elevation, their workshopโ€™s construction.

ูŠู‚ูˆู…ูŽ ุจุฃู…ู’ุฑู ุงู„ู„ู‡ู ุนู†ู‡ู ูˆูŠูŽุตู’ุฏูŽุนุง

41. Nor did they split the integrity of the faith that He decreedโ€”
That he should establish His command therein and cleave a path for it;

ูˆู„ุง ุจูุฏู‘ุฏูŽ ุงู„ุดู‘ู…ู’ู„ู ุงู„ุฐูŠ ู‚ุฏ ุชุฌู…ู‘ุนุง

42. Nor frighten the secure host,
Nor scatter the unity that so coalesced.

43. Long live the one who marked the Sacred House with his footsteps,
And circled the Black Stone and the Rukn, or strode the distance between Safฤ and Marwah!

44. Long remain singularly with loftiness and honour,
Embodying all the scattered virtues in fullest assembly.
