1. You are guided to glory, upheld by resolute determination
The angels incline to you, from West to East

2. Your guiding light shines forth, illuminating the horizons of knowledge
You have cleared up verses that were ambiguous

3. And opened to needs what was closed
So generous, as you have described the ever-present al-Hayy

4. And so resolute, as you have related about the formidable warrior
And who is like our Master, the Caliph Yusuf -

5. Exalted and adorned, how righteous and merciful!
An Imam endowed by Allah with kingship after

6. He selected you from the cradle of victory and chose you
You have wisdom, daring, noble traits

7. And the giving of aid, clemency, knowledge and piety
You have a resolve that subdues the lofty, and an ambition

8. That has reached to the highest stars, climbing
Your strong determination dispels the darkness of trials

9. As a flashing lightning illuminates the gloom
Your life relates the full moon on its brightest night

10. And your clouds rain down heavily, ever pouring
If the dawn smiles, greeting your face,

11. And if rain-giving clouds fail, your generosity still waters
Life - for those who implored; death - for those who transgressed;

12. Safety - for those who prepared; and success - for those who were pious
You charged forth, rending the dusk before the battle’s meet

13. And advanced with dread before the army, to strike fear
When you make a good promise, we see you

14. Fulfilling it toward us, truthful and generous
The sword of the best of creation - whenever it separates

15. The groups of enemies by striking them
Passion is confused in love of glory, and forbearance blames it

16. Yet with blaming it only increases its ardent love
You brought God's army to Tariq's landing place

17. There disbelief bowed its head and bent over
A group showed ingratitude for your blessings

18. So the devil of misguidance thundered and lightning struck
You have remained a blessing master, bestowing kindness,

19. Merciful and compassionate to creation, caring
You remain in power the greatest victor,

20. Who sees those guilty of crimes as exonerated
So O meeting point of two seas, think lightly of one

21. Who tries to divide the religion’s unity
He has gone into hiding as the followers of guidance surround him

22. And the army of resolute determination closes in tight
He has lost the path of righteousness, not knowing his value,

23. So none remains save the sleepless, head bowed
Whoever divides from his war, halting when he sees

24. The hand of God raised above him with the sword
We wonder at those who contended with you, seeking might

25. Yet were unable to free themselves from the shackles of humiliation
Can one hope for a day to cause unrest in the country

26. When its protector's heart has been secured, bound?
Can a traitor carry the banners of victory

27. When he has made a covenant of loyalty, bound tight?
It is as though time itself recites verses, eloquently proclaiming:

28. “The group of transgressors has scattered and divided”
Oh, delight your eyes by observing the group

29. That inevitable death has encircled and besieged
The Caliph's governors came from all around

30. Pouring abundant rain from your clouds, overflowing
They were as brave as al-Kamil facing the tumult

31. Having put to flight the polished tips of slim swords
The Murids and Tujjins and all those who strive

32. Meet the enemy and defeat them in battle
And the noble prayers of each sharif

33. That draw near to God keep climbing, rising high
By your side are commanders that one would think

34. When war intensifies, are quicker to round up captives
If an ungrateful family has abandoned your blessings

35. How despicable their effort, and how lowly their outcome!
Yours is the glory - do not care, as the Sublime desired,

36. for one whose feet stumbled into the pit of misery
None can match the one you have sent and victory is his provisions,

37. Whom you have raised to the highest office, climbing
Installing him a place of glory and sublime abode

38. Of awe, of beauty that captivates, fine and good
You have attacked the enemies through him, baring swords

39. And shot two arrows from his bows, straight and true
So may the Merciful frustrate the efforts of those hostile

40. If the flags of your victory are brought down low
No sword you unsheathe falters, no arrow you shoot

41. fails to strike its lofty target true
You have restored the Western realm when its West fell

42. And have renewed it after it had nearly perished
You sent it, submissive to conquest, floating vessels

43. To compete with celestial stars vying in their fleet course
The seas part before them when they sail

44. As destiny has prevented their separation and divide
They pull the people’s hands among them, grasping oars,

45. As the gentle breeze draws the branches of the náqa tree
How many sails, shaded with lions, then folded back like

46. Clouds appearing and disappearing each time they lower and rise
You would see the gaze turn away after its journey

47. As the bereaved gazelle turned, enchanted by desire
You would think it a frightened oryx amidst the fray

48. That has turned away in fear, then paused, staring ahead
And this is the book of the Opening, reaching you

49. Verifying the beautiful composition made for you
Bringing good tidings in the truest manner

50. And most wondrous news and sweetest words
The train carries from it the most honorable traits

51. So I have delighted in the beautiful mention, overflowing
The noon hour has arrived, and you have fulfilled its right

52. Even if the quarter of the realm was the furthest destination
Secure it will be returned, as you have come a victor

53. To restrain Mansur and pardon the successful one
Beneath you, my Master, lies a brilliant pearl

54. That has filled from your ocean's abundance, pouring forth
I would plunge into it, praising you ceaselessly

55. Not to string it in necklaces or thread it in order
I love that my praises of you have a composition

56. And good only lies in my appearing from it to spend
You have watered the soil of my thoughts and kindled its fire

57. So my tinder caught flame and my garden bore fruit
You have granted, elevating your servant, bestowing favor

58. So may your mercy upon us pour or facilitate pouring
If you meet my praises by listening

59. Then one like you has ascended, and one like me can ascend
Far from time to ever make me bow, after

60. You have shaded it with a halo of mighty glory
You remain, upholding God’s religion, raising its edifice

61. And it congratulates you on glad tidings; may your permanence endure!
