بصائرنا في القضا خامده
Our visions in fate are extinguished
الله أكبر فاز المجد واغتبطا
God is the Greatest, so glory has triumphed and rejoiced
تلك ربوع الحي في سفح النقا
Those are the meadows of life on the slopes of Naka
ما على المستهام إثم بهذا
The infatuated is not to blame for this
هو الله فاعرفه ودع فيه من وما
He is Allah, so know Him, and leave off from Him who and what
ويا مالك الملك ذا العز والبقاء
O Master of the Everlasting Kingdom, Possessor of Might, Eternity, Glory, Bounty, Praise and Grace
فتلهج يا الله في القصد مخلصا
With sincerity, I implore You, O God
الله أكبر حق اكبر لله
Allah is the Greatest in truth
لن ترضي الله حتى تخلص الورعا
You will not please Allah until you adopt devoutness
تهد العمر رائعة المنون
The life trickles away like a gazelle,
خذوا بجميل الصبر وارضوا وسلموا
Take comfort in patience, be content, and accept;
خل الصبابة تسري في خليقته
Let youth in all its freshness have its way
علم الحق بذاته
The knowledge of truth by itself
أشعة الحق لا تخفى عن النظر
The rays of truth are not hidden from sight

تقدست قدسا يا سلام مبرءا
You were sanctified with perfect sanctity, O Peace
إلى الملك الأعلى الذي أنا مؤمن
To the Highest King in whom I believe
ويا مؤمن امنحني الأمان وأمنك
O believer, grant me safety and your impenetrable refuge
تكبرت فوق الكل يا متكبرا
You have exalted yourself above all, O arrogant one
الهي عزيز الذات لا لمعزز
O God, Honored of Essence, not for the sake of
ببابك يا وهاب أملقت مخفقا
I came pleading at Your door, o Bestower
مفتي العصر ما على مستهام
The mufti of the age, don't bite the apple
دهتني الدواهي يا مقيت وحالتي
The afflictions overwhelmed me, O Sustainer, and my state
الهي المجيد الحق مجدك قائم
My Glorious God, the truth of Your glory endures
ويا والي الأشياء ملكا وحيطة
O Master of all things, a King of encompassing rule
ويا ضار حال النفع عمن أردته
O Harmful One! How futile is harming whom you intended
الهي قد أسلمت وجهي شاهدا
My God, I have surrendered my face
ويا قاهر القهار فوق عباده
O Vanquisher of tyrants, above Your servants
الهي القريب الحق بالعلم مطلقا
My God, truly near in knowledge absolutely
مفيض قوى الأعيان حسب ذواتها
O Source of the essences' powers according to their entities
مستغيث قد مسني الضر يا رح
O Succorer, affliction has stricken me, so help me
يا غني المغني لك الملك والسلطان
O You who makes the poor rich, to You belongs the kingdom and power
استنبط العلم وزك العملا
He deduced knowledge and purified deeds,
همم الملوك أجلها اعظامها
The ambitions of kings, their greatest glory
الهي يا منان كم لك منة
My God, O Beneficent, how much grace You have
الهي الحق لم أشهد سوى الله
O God, I witnessed none but Allah
سبحان ذي اللطف بسم الله بالله
Glory to the Benevolent, in the name of Allah, by Allah
الله بسم الله يا الله الأجل
In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
بسم الاله الهي الحق بالله
In the Name of Allah, The True God
نصبت لهم من نير الذكر معلما
I set up for them a signpost of remembrance
سقى الله سوحا منبتي من جنابها
Allah watered gardens growing by His side
الله أكبر رزء نكس العلما
God is Greatest, a calamity that lowered flags
منازل النفس لا تدرى حقائقها
The stages of the self are not truly known,
عش ما تشاء وراقب فجعة الأجل
Live as you wish and observe the suddenness of death
أبا الحارث اسمع حديثا جرى
Abu al-Harith, listen to this amazing tale
ريب المنون مقارض الأعمار
The approach of death steals our lives away,
أيها العاذل ذرها تنهمي
O critic, leave her be, let her revel
ومما شجاني إنها يوم ودعت
And what pained me is that the day she bid farewell
ويا ذا الجلال القائم الدائم العلا
O You of everlasting glory and might
ظهرت لعين الكون من غير رؤية
You appeared to the eyes of the universe without vision
ويا هاديا من شاءه من عباده
O Guide of those servants You willed
الهي مذل الكافرين بكفرهم
O God, disgrace the disbelievers for their disbelief,
فاتحة الحمد أيادي من عفى
An ode of praise - the work of forgiving hands
وأي ضعيف ثابت يا متين إن
O steadfast one, if you destroy
وصل وسلم عد أسرار كل ما
Bless and greet him, count all that he has
إن للاجتماع روحا لطيفا
The spirit of togetherness is gentle
أقدم نفسي حشوها الخوف والرجا
I offer myself, filled with fear and hope
عسى نفحات اسم الرحيم وروحه
May the breezes of the Most Merciful's name and spirit
بإسمك يا الله أخلصت داعيا
With Your name, O God, I pleaded sincerely
أوجه باسم الله وجه شهودي
I direct in God's name my witnesses' faces
بصرت بكل الكائنات احاطة
I saw all beings with encompassing vision
ويا مانع الأسواء من أوليائه
O withholder of harm from Your saints
الصدر الأعظم مقصد المتوسل
The greatest bosom is the goal of the supplicant
ويا غافر الذنب اغتفر لي قبائحا
O Forgiver of sins, forgive me for shameful deeds
هو الله بسم الله تسبيح فطرتي
In the name of Allah, the praise of my innate nature
واكف يا آخر الأعادي بالتأخير
Enough, O last of enemies, with the oppression
الهِي يا خلاق أنت خلقتني
O my God, O Creator, You created me
ويا رب يا رب اغتفر ما تجشمت
O Lord, O Lord, forgive what my servitude has burdened me with
قوي على نصري وتمجيد هيبتي
Be strong in supporting me and glorifying my awe
سيدي يا تواب جلت ذنوبي
My Master, O Relenting One, my sins are apparent
عبيدك يا تواب جاءك عائذ
Your servant has come to you seeking refuge, O Acceptor of repentance
لا يجتلي النور إلا من مشارقه
The light shines not but from its risings
ويا رافعا من شاءه برشاده
O He who raised whom He willed with His guidance,
سريع الحساب امحقهم وأبدهم
Swiftly reckon with them and destine their ruin
فدا نفسي لبهكنة لعوب
Roses, wine, and laughter
نكسى العلام يا خير الملل
The flags are lowered, O best of nations,
الهي يا ذا الطول والفضل هذه
O God, O You of infinite generosity
ويا حي قبل الكل حي لذاته
O Ever-Living before all life, Living of Himself
تكفلت يا رزاق بالرزق مطلتا
You have guaranteed, O Sustainer, our provision
ويا باطن الذات اختفيت بلا اختفا
O essence of the essence, you hid without hiding
ويا قائما بالقسط يا مقسط القضا
O upholder of justice, o equitable judge
ويا واجد الحق الإلهي لم يفت
O God, no divine right of Godhood
لا قضيت الربع من نفسي حقوقه
I have not fulfilled the rights of my soul
الحمد لله حق الحمد لله
Praise be to Allah, true praise is due to Allah
ليس للاختيار ذرة فعل
There is not an atom's weight of choice in my action;
وجوب الغنى حق الغني لذاته
The obligation of Divine Self-Sufficiency is the right of the Self-Sufficient for His own sake
أزل جهل نفسي يا عليم وزكها
Erase my ignorance, O All-Knowing, and purify my soul
ماذا تريد من الدنيا تعانيها
What do you want from this miserable life that you suffer it
أحسن أمانتك التي قلدتها
The trust you bear well worthy of acclaim
الهي لا موجود غيرك لم يكن
O God, there is no existence except You. There was not,
ويا خافض الكفار خفضا مقدرا
O You who abases the disbelievers with destined abasement
ويا عدل في أحكامه وقضائه
O Justice in His judgments and decrees
بسلطانك الأعلى بما لك من علا
With your supreme authority, with all you possess
الهي بقيومي الحفظ اسمك
O my God, protect me by your guardianship
ويا محصي الأشياء علما وحيطة
O you who comprehensively counts all things, knowledgeably and wisely,
تؤخر إن أخرت عن زلف الرضا
If you delay, though you delayed gratifying union,
إليك مصير الكل يا آخر انتهى
To you is the fate of all, O Last One has ended
ويا نور نور النور يهدي لنوره
O Light, Light of Light, your Light guides
الهِي أنت الوارث الملك مطلقا
O my God, You are the sole heir of the kingdom
نجني يا خلاق من كل كرب
Deliver me, O Creator, from all distress,
سيدي سائل باسمائك الحسني
My Lord, I ask in Your Beautiful Names
تجليت بالجود الالهي سيدي
My Lord, you have revealed yourself through divine generosity
ويا قائما بالقسط خصمك باهر
O you who stand against your opponent with justice
الهي فطرت الكون ابداع فاطر
O God, You originated the universe in perfection, O Originator
بأسمائك الحسنى دعوتك موقنا
I called upon You by Your beautiful names certain
وكيف أخاف الحادثات وإنما
How can I fear mishaps when your protection,
غوث الوجود أغثني ضاق مصطبري
Helper of existence, help me, my patience has run out
لا تكترث بالليالي إنها دول
Heed not the nights, for they're fleeting
هزت العالم أدوار البشر
The cycles of humankind have shaken the world
تكب على دنياك وهي تبيد
You build upon this vanishing world
ويا باسط الأرزاق بسطا مقدرا
O Provider of sustenance with measured generosity
الهي البديع المستحيل مثاله
O my God, the Unique, the Impossible to Imitate
حجبت جسمها بديباجة سوداء
Her body was veiled in a silk robe
ويا ماجد الأعلى الرفيع جلاله
Oh Majid, the Most High, the Noble, His Majesty
ويا صمد الباقي الجليل لذاته
O Eternal, Self-Sufficient, Majestic in His Essence
الهي بالانعام أنت ابتدأتنا
O God, with blessings You initiated us,
الهِي توبا قابل التوب إنني
My God, accept my repentance, O Acceptor of repentance
إلى كرم اللّه الكريم وجوده
To the generosity of the generous Lord, His existence,
الهي الرشيد الواهب للنهى
O Wise God, Granter of guidance
الهي لا مسموع يعزب عنك يا
O Allah, nothing escapes Your hearing, O All-Hearing,
قصدت جلال اللّه جل جلاله
I sought the Majesty of Glorious God,
رعى الله ليلة أنس جلت
A night of intimacy shone
الحمد لله لا بؤس ولا سقم
Praise be to God, no harm or illness
الحمد لله حق الحمد لله
Praise be to Allah as He deserves to be praised
الشكر لله شكرا ليس ينصرم
Thanks be to God, thanks that does not cease
حملوا العصي فكنت أحمل سبحة
They carried sticks, and I carried a rosary,
الهي بك استكفيت عن كل حادث
O God, in You I find sufficiency against every affliction,
ونعم النصير الناصر الله لم أعذ
How excellent a helper is Allah, the helper, the victorious!
تعاليت يا حق الثبوت لذاته
You transcended, O Truth, by virtue of His essence
تعاليت يا باقي بلا أمدية
Come, O Everlasting One, without limitation,
الهي شكور النزر من كسب طائع
O God, thankfulness for the smallest favor is the work of the obedient,
الهي يا رحمن ضاق بي الفضا
O my Lord, the Merciful, space has become constricted around me,
ملك الناس مالك الملك تؤتي الملك
O King of mankind, O Owner of kingship, You grant
تقدست يا قدوس عن جنس علة
You are sanctified, O Holy One, above the genus of fault,
ما يفعل المرء إن زاد الغرام به
What can a man do if passion for another grows?
ويا جامع الأجزاء تأليف متقن
O gatherer of scattered parts in skilled composition,
أتى عبدك الخطاء جهلا وغرة
Your erring servant came in ignorance and folly
شديد العقاب المهلك المدرك اختطف
The severe punisher, the deadly grasp, snatched away
ويا نافع انفعني بحبك خالصا
O Benefactor, benefit me with Your pure love
يهوى سواك وتهواه فهل سفه
He desires none but you, and you desire him, is he insane
ويا أول قبل الوجود وضده
O First, before existence and its opposite,
حملوا عصيهم وأحمل سبحة
They carried their sticks, and I carried my rosary,
إن المعارف للقلوب مصائد
Knowledge is a trap for hearts,
الهي رقيب السر واللحظات لا
O God, watcher of secrets and moments
علمت اضطراري سيدي وتضرعي
You knew my distress, my Lord, and my pleading,
ويا بر أهل البر يا محسنا على
O Kind One, most kind to His creation
ويا من له الاكبار في كبريائه
O You whose greatness in His majesty
ويا خالق الخلق المقدر كونهم
O Creator of creation, You who destined them
حميد الفعال الواجب الحمد والثنا
The worthy of praise, the requisite of thanks and eulogy
أحبتنا ما البعد شيئا نطيقه
Our loved ones, we cannot bear the distance,
تيقظ والأيام في غير نعسة
He awoke, while the days were still drowsy,
أحاط بيَ الكرب العظيم وأنت يا
Great sorrow has surrounded me, and You, O Gentle One, Full of Gentleness, solve my sorrow.
إلى الملك الفعال في ملكه لما
To the effective King in His kingdom when
باسمك سيدي تجلى الكروب
In Your name, my Lord, distress was relieved,
ويا مبديء الأشياء من عدم إلى
O You who originated all things from nonexistence into
احطت بخطبي يا محيط وما انطوى
You have encompassed my affairs, O Ocean, and not
سبق الارادة سلم المرتاد
The will preceded the ladder of the seeker
ونور جناني يا عليم بومضة
O Knower of my spirit's light, with a flash
لعدلك أشكو يا قدير مظالما
O Just One, I complain of oppressions to Thee
ويا من هو اللّه الخبير لذاته
O God, Knower of all truths within Yourself
ولكنه يعطي بميزان عقله
Yet he gives with the measure of his mind
الهي عظيم العفو أوقرت مأثما
O my God, Most Forgiving, You have honored a sinner
تجلى اسمك المولى بعز كماله
Your glorious name, my Master, appeared with mighty perfection,
الهي أظهرت الجميل تفضلا
My God, You have graciously shown beauty,
الهي بما أظهرت من سراسمك
O my God, with what You have revealed of Your wise attributes
طنبت في الوادي المقدس خيمتي
I pitched my tent in the sacred valley
على كل شيء رب أنت مهيمن
O Lord, You have power over all things
ويا بارىء الموجود موجده بلا
O Creator of existence, who originated it without speech
ومن يا حسيب العالمين لفاقتي
O Accountant of the worlds, who can suffice me in my poverty,
ربي أقم لبني الاسلام قائمهم
My Lord, raise for the Muslims their leader,
منطق كان ثامن السبعة الشهب
Logic was the eighth of the seven
الله حي لا يزال ولم يزل
God is Ever-Living, never ceasing to be
الهي معز الأولياء بعصمه
O my God, protector of the saints with Your protection
دهتني الرزايا سيدي وألم بي
My lord, troubles have afflicted me and brought me pain
معيد الذوات الفانيات كبدئها
The renewer of the ephemeral selves as their originator
علمت ربي ولا عين ولا أثر
ببابك يا الله عبدك مخبت
سبحان من وجب الوجود لذاته
الهي يا قيوم ذاتا بذاته
ويا واحد الباقي بوحدة ذاته
الهي هذا موقف الخوف والرجا
باسمك الأعظم العظيم الأجل
نزه إلهك أن يرى كي تعرفه
سبحان ربي رب العزة الله
الله أكبر بسم الله بالله
بكاف الكمال وكون الكريم
ألا هل لداعي الله في الأرض سامع
لنا أنفس لكنها اليوم ظلمة
تقارنه في كل أمر فضيلة
بورك النجل واستمر الهناء
قد اهتزت الأكوان وارتعد الملا
ساحر الطرف سقيم جفنه
يا عبد مالك تنسى ما نعمت به
قدم العليم لذاته مستوجب
خلق الله للمكلف عقلا
الهي افتقاري لازم لحقيقتي
تجبرت يا جبار في جبريائه
مصور أشكال الوجود معدل الذوات
الهي فتاح المغالق واهب
ويا قابض الأشياء قبضة قوة
إلى الحكم الحق الذي لا يرد ما
تأنيت بي في موضع العدل حالما
عظمت عظيم الذات لا لبداية
الهي الهي يا غفور استغاثة
ويا واسع الأشياء علما ورحمة
ويا باعث الأجسام عودا كبدئها
الهي شهيد الكائنات شهادة
الهي خلقت الخلق والعجز قيدهم
وليي في الدنيا وفي الأخرى تولني
ويا محيي الأرواح في ملكوتها
الهي مميت الحي مستأثر البقا
الهي على الاخلاص يا أحد انطوى
ويا قادرا بالذات لا بمغاير
تعلق عجزي باسم مقتدر ولم
ويا متعالي الذات في جبروته
إلى اللّه أشكو وهو منتقم يدا
الهي تعطف يا رؤوف بموقفي
ويا مالك الملك الجليل اقتداره
الهِي عرضي لافتقاري وفاقتي
تأنيت حلما يا صبور وإنما
الهي مغيث المستغيثين هذه
وثقت بسلطان المليك وعزه
يا الهي وحدت ذاتك إيمانا
عالم الغيب والشهادة علام
لقد طرقتني يا رحيم قوارع
على المعرج الأسنى من الذكر عولا
يؤوب احتياجي يا غني وفاقتي
الهي لاسمك الأعلى العلاء
الفضل ما وزع النفوس إلى الصفا
جرد النفس وانهها عن هواها
أدار سياسات بمقدار عزمه
بدع من الأمر إذ حلت جلالته
عاد المهنا بحمد الله واختلفت
صبرا بني على الزمان وصرفه
أبلغ إليك رسالة
يا أخا عبس الحماة الأنوف
قضت وطرا من سكن أفناء نعمان
