1. You will not please Allah until you adopt devoutness
And you will never see devoutness coexisting with ignorance

2. It is an obligation to fulfill the rights of His servants
If you do not know the obligatory and the forbidden

3. You will be able to fulfill the trust of Allah
If you know, with the help of Allah, what He has legislated

4. No artisan has ever perfected his craft
Unless he was knowledgeable about what he has created

5. And whoever walks a path without proof or landmarks to guide
Has gone astray and become disconnected

6. The blind person needs his guide
Otherwise, he wouldn't know whether he encounters a wall or a cliff

7. So motivate yourself to gain knowledge of what you are ignorant of
Until you see knowledge radiating from your horizons

8. This self is created like a mirror
Whatever it faces, it reflects

9. Luminous in its essence while the rust is incidental
When you polish it, the rust falls off

10. Knowledge is the most honorable thing I have been endowed with
Wherever it settles, it humbles itself to Allah

11. Seek it for the sake of Allah and He will facilitate it without hardship
Do not covet anything other than what pleases Him

12. Ease accompanies the frequenter of knowledge if
His visits are detached from all creatures

13. Knowledge is a boundless ocean I cannot encompass
So be content with what benefits religion

14. Even if we assume that the confinement of knowledge in people
And seeking it for other than the sake of Allah benefits

15. Then direct your pursuit to Allah, upholding
The beliefs of knowledge, for man will end up where he aspires

16. Knowledge of Allah is the most worthy of your occupation
And anything else leads to reaching Him eventually

17. Seek all beneficial knowledge as tools for your devotion
So that the servant lives benefiting from every knowledge

18. Seek and unleash yourself without restrictions or hardship
And stop if religious law prohibits it

19. Prioritize knowledge of acts of worship through which
You fulfill an obligation or respond to a call

20. Leave the engineer absorbed in shapes
And the astronomer observing the rising stars

21. And seek a jurist whose heart is lit by Allah’s light
Who shows you what ignorance has restricted

22. So do not worry, on the Day of Judgment, about geometry
Or questions about how far Mars has traveled

23. You will not see, from the book of the King
On the Day of Resurrection, anything but sins and devoutness

24. So act with knowledge and occupy your two recorders with it
So you do not lose what you have dictated or collected

25. Do not spend your life in vain, for you will not see
On the Day of Regrets, any time left for deeds

26. In the blink of an age is potential and a farm
What you plant, you will harvest in its aftermath

27. If you are gathered without knowledge or deeds
You will realize you have been deceived by negligence

28. Seize the remainder of passing days without
Respite, for the fulfillment of life has come knocking

29. And awaken your honor if its guard has slept
Seriously seeking the pleasure of Allah, not weak or panicked

30. And spend your life from beginning to end
Pursuing knowledge of your religion by following the Quran

31. It is the essential matter whose consequences
You hope for, whether it resurrects or intercedes for you

32. The merit of knowledge is the loftiest blessing
That raises a servant, without which he would not be mentioned or exalted

33. No rank exceeds that of the Chosen One
Nor any moment that surpasses what his night journey encompassed

34. And every knowledge belonging to a creation
Comes from and will be followed by a stream from his ocean

35. And every speck of light or station of guidance
Emerges from the horizons of the light of Mustafa

36. And still the Quran commands it:
“Say, my Lord, increase me in knowledge over what I have grasped.”

37. For indeed, knowledge has a status for every level
And every profound status is humble before it

38. The self has the capacity for increase so it does not
Constrict depending on its vastness, however much it expands

39. So imprint it on its tablet and let it guide you
To the realities of deeds in their proper places

40. So let it seek knowledge for deeds to serve it
Like a sword carried by the brave for striking

41. What do you want with knowledge that does not deter you
From evil nor make you pursue good by following it?

42. A donkey who carries burdens is not benefited
Unless it carries loads that benefit it

43. Pitiful is the example of one who memorizes knowledge yet
It did not benefit him; only so-and-so is a scholar who mastered

44. If you sought the world through it, it would destroy you
It would be more fitting for it to befall a base ignorant one than you

45. Its worth, from everything, is matchless
How ugly is knowledge wherever greed accompanies it

46. And the noblest knowledge guides to righteousness
That becomes a treasure and deters evil

47. Sovereignty lies not in money or youth
Rather, it lies in knowledge wherever devoutness accompanies it

48. To Allah belong an elite of the righteous whose absence
Would leave alarm, so they left safety after them

49. They were an ocean, so they left after them a desert
They were clouds, so they left barren gaps after them

50. I accompanied them while torrents of knowledge poured
And they left me, so rain has diminished and stopped

51. Those people were the salt of the earth, if it were corrupted
Then where are they while corruption pounds on the doors?

52. Why have the celestial spheres of knowledge deserted
And now taken up the bellies of the earth and its mountains?

53. Who will bring them back to me in an age
Some of whose promises were to elevate knowledge, now elevated

54. And it was elevated by the death of those who
Sought to act through it in righteous and good ways

55. Perhaps subtle hints from Allah's Spirit will build
After despair, clouds that pour hoped-for rain

56. Unveiling the dust of days upon successors
Of truth who undertake serving and benefiting people

57. For I have hope in an excellent posterity
Who, in attempting to attain it, have submitted

58. They have grasped glory from the pillars of their ancestors
The lightning of merit has flashed in their horizons

59. I heard they have an ambition as radiant as the sun
So that every dear goal under it bows

60. They have stood up to fate and the days boldly
With the grace of free men, thus rushing forth

61. They have composed a necklace of glory by their unity
Remaining, to the eyes of Allah, united

62. Reaching for glory is hard, but they have reached out
And grasped it without hesitation or fatigue

63. Congratulations, you night travelers, as you have
Revived glory whether it was granted or denied

64. The chosen ones of free men continue to be picked
Even in the times of one with grim face, until befalling you

65. You were the shining gem within it, none having perceived
Among you, whether complete or hearing of it

66. We have the glad tidings as glory gives us the good news
Of the most Bountiful in pride if He refuses

67. And a future will come in which your ambition
Will be followed without limit by glories not yet fulfilled

68. You are the tongue of truth testifying for me
That you have attained the loftiest summits

69. When you felt ignorance was a deficiency
And that knowledge elevates overpowering ignorance however subdued

70. You established a school for the religious sciences
Like a halo, radiating light and benefit

71. It has encompassed a pure-hearted youth
More immaculate than jewels in oysters sealed shut

72. Thirsty to acquire knowledge when they understood
That ignorance rules like forbidden menses

73. Bearing fruits of struggle, their main concern
Is to worship Allah in the most legislated way

74. Unrestricted minds were revealed to them
The necessity of knowledge, so they complied, following

75. With vigor and determination unmatched by
Any opposing tide, as if the sea surging forth

76. Glad tidings to you, O carriers of knowledge, for yours
Is a day ignorance will withdraw defeated

77. And you will be blessed with enlightened minds
That Allah protects from abominable heresies!

78. O my pillars, O torrents of the earth, you suffice!
The angels’ blessings and benefits upon you!

79. Will you accept me as one of your men
That we may live upon this success together?

80. You have been specified with the epitome of nobility—
Will you permit us to keep the regulations?

81. I still call to the likes of your awakening, and so
You men of virtue have listened!

82. May Allah make firm your hearing and increase
Your progress in the high pursuits—no star has ascended above
